Job Summary

Will conduct independent and collaborative research, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and the development of innovative solutions. The fellow will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and collaborate with a team of researchers.

Essential Functions

-Design, plan, and execute research experiments or projects in alignment with departmental goals.

-Gather, analyze, and interpret data using appropriate statistical methods and tools.

-Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to inform research direction and methodologies.

-Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences and seminars.

-Work collaboratively with faculty, students, and other researchers, contributing to a positive research environment.

-Mentor graduate and undergraduate students, providing guidance on research methodologies and techniques.

-Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and funding applications to support ongoing research.

-Prepare periodic reports and documents summarizing research progress and outcomes.

Salary: $70,000.00 - $71,750.00/Annual

Qualifications: PhD in molecular biology, Biochemistry, biophysics, immunology, or related field strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated hands-on experience with animal models and/or a strong background in cell culture and molecular biology techniques, including tissue handling, mammalian cell culture, and standard biochemical assays. Preferred qualifications include prior experience with xenograft and orthotopic murine tumor models, cancer biology research, as well as familiarity with molecular biology techniques such as Western blotting, nucleic acid extraction, single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial biology, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry. Exposure to biomedical imaging, quantitative assays, or interdisciplinary research environments integrating biology and technology is desirable. Strong proficiency in following experimental protocols with precision, maintaining accurate records, and working with biological samples is essential.

In vivo mouse tumor models

  • Establishing, maintaining, and monitoring orthotopic and xenograft murine tumor models
  • Subcutaneous, IP, and IV injections
  • Handling and processing of mouse tissues following in vivo experiments
  • Supporting ex vivo tissue preparation and analysis, including sample preservation for downstream assays

Cell biology and in vitro systems

  • Maintaining routine 2D and 3D mammalian cell culture
  • Establishing and expanding primary cell lines from tumor or tissue specimens
  • Performing cell-based assays to evaluate biological responses to therapeutic or imaging agents
  • Supporting experimental design and execution of mechanistic studies in vitro

Molecular and biochemical techniques

  • Tissue processing for downstream molecular analyses
  • Extraction of DNA, RNA, and proteins from tissue and cell samples
  • Western blotting, immunodetection, and related protein analysis techniques
  • Flow cytometry and sample preparation for immune and tumor cell profiling
  • Supporting downstream data interpretation in collaboration with investigators
