You will handle significant matters, work alongside experienced trial attorneys, and have a direct hand in shaping case strategy.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nIndependently manage a litigation caseload from case intake through resolution, including case assessment and strategy development\nTake and defend depositions, including lead examination of plaintiffs and expert witnesses\nPrepare witnesses for deposition and trial\nReview and analyze incoming discovery requests, and draft discovery requests and responses\nDraft and argue pleadings and motions, including dispositive and evidentiary motions\nPrepare for and support trial, including exhibit and witness preparation, motions in limine, and trial briefs\nCommunicate regularly with clients on case status, strategy, and developments\nCollaborate with partners and colleagues across the firm's offices to share strategy and best practices\nMaintain accurate, timely time records\nCandidate Qualifications and Personal Attributes\nJuris Doctor from an accredited law school\nAdmitted to practice in Illinois with Missouri preferred\nMinimum of one (1) year defense litigation experience \nDemonstrated experience with motion practice and depositions\nExperience taking the lead in plaintiff and expert depositions\nSuperior legal research and writing skills\nStrong analytical ability, including the ability to evaluate and break down complex, fact-intensive matters\nHighly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment\nStrong problem-solving, communication, and client service skills\nDependable and self-motivated, able to work both independently and collaboratively\nProfessional and flexible, with a record of consistent punctuality and meeting deadlines\nWillingness to assist wherever needed\nA positive attitude that contributes to team spirit and supports the success of colleagues\nWhy Should You Apply? \nOur associates work closely with our senior lawyers and clients on challenging work in an entrepreneurial and collegial environment.
