Come see why our associates love working at MasterBrand.\nJob Description:\nProduction Supervisor - Finishing Department\nJob Title: Production Supervisor(Finishing)\nDepartment: Finishing Operations\nLocation: Howard Lake, MN\nReports To: Production Manager\nPosition Summary\nThe Production Supervisor (Finish) is responsible for leading daily operations within the finishing department, including staining, painting, glazing, sanding, touch-up, curing, and related finishing processes. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of finished cabinet components while driving employee engagement, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. The supervisor provides leadership to production associates and works closely with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Materials, and Human Resources to achieve business objectives.\nEssential Responsibilities\nSafety Leadership\nPromote and enforce a strong safety culture within the finishing department.\nEnsure compliance with all safety, environmental, and hazardous material handling requirements.\nConduct safety audits, observations, and investigations as needed.\nEnsure proper use of PPE and adherence to chemical handling procedures.\nPartner with Environmental, Health & Safety teams to reduce workplace risks.\nEmployee Leadership & Development\nLead, coach, and develop finishing associates to achieve performance expectations.\nManage attendance, performance, employee relations concerns, and disciplinary processes.\nSupport onboarding, training, and cross-training initiatives.\nFoster accountability, teamwork, and employee engagement.\nConduct regular performance and development conversations.\nFinishing Operations Management\nDirect daily finishing operations to meet production schedules and customer demand.\nMonitor workflow throughout sanding, staining, painting, glazing, curing, inspection, and touch-up processes.\nBalance staffing and resources to maximize productivity and throughput.\nEnsure department goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost are achieved.\nIdentify and address production bottlenecks that impact flow or output.\nQuality Assurance\nEnsure all finishing processes meet company and customer quality standards.\nMonitor color consistency, finish quality, adhesion, appearance, and overall product specifications.\nInvestigate quality defects and implement corrective actions.\nPartner with Quality and Engineering teams to drive process improvements.\nReinforce workmanship standards and attention to detail throughout the department.\nContinuous Improvement\nLead and support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.\nUtilize root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques to improve performance.\nDrive waste reduction, efficiency improvements, and process standardization.\nEncourage team participation in improvement activities and idea generation.\nEnvironmental Compliance\nEnsure compliance with environmental regulations related to coatings, paints, stains, solvents, and waste handling.\nMonitor material usage and work to reduce waste and improve sustainability efforts.\nMaintain compliance with required documentation and reporting procedures.\nCommunication & Collaboration\nConduct daily startup meetings and communicate operational priorities.\nCollaborate with Scheduling, Materials, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Human Resources to support business needs.\nProvide regular updates on department performance and operational challenges.\nMaintain accurate production and workforce records.\nQualifications\nRequired\nHigh School Diploma or GED.\nMinimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience.\nPrevious leadership, team lead, or supervisory experience.\nStrong communication, coaching, and organizational skills.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nBasic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.\nPreferred\nAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Business, Engineering, or related field.\nExperience in wood finishing, paint systems, cabinet manufacturing, or related finishing operations.\nLean Manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.\nKnowledge of spray finishing
