Mastercard is an American payments technology company whose origins date to 1966, when a group of banks formed the Interbank Card Association to compete with BankAmericard. Like its main rival it does not issue cards or extend credit; it operates the network that authorises, clears and settles transactions between issuing banks, acquirers and merchants in more than two hundred countries. Headquartered in Purchase, New York, the company has built a large services business alongside the core network, covering fraud and identity products through its Ethoca and RiskRecon acquisitions, open banking, consulting and loyalty programmes.

Our Purpose

Mastercard powers economies and empowers people in 200+ countries and territories worldwide. Together with our customers, we’re helping build a sustainable economy where everyone can prosper. We support a wide range of digital payments choices, making transactions secure, simple, smart and accessible. Our technology and innovation, partnerships and networks combine to deliver a unique set of products and services that help people, businesses and governments realize their greatest potential.

  • Lead portfolio intake activities, including demand assessment, capability mapping, dependency analysis, and prioritisation recommendations.
  • Maintain and evolve the platform capability model, ensuring new initiatives are aligned to strategic capabilities and technology objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for platform reuse, consolidation, standardisation, and technical simplification.
  • Work closely with Architects and Engineering leaders to ensure portfolio decisions support long-term platform scalability, operability, and sustainability.
  • Drive visibility and transparency of portfolio priorities, dependencies, investment decisions, and technology roadmaps.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to Product, Technology, and Delivery leaders on platform investment and prioritisation decisions.
  • Partner with PM-Ts across delivery pods to ensure consistent product management practices, alignment, and effective cross-domain planning.
  • Champion understanding and adoption of platform capabilities across internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate discussions regarding trade-offs, dependencies, risks, and investment decisions across multiple teams and domains.
  • Develop practical mechanisms, tools, and governance processes that improve portfolio execution and decision-making.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations for senior leadership and business stakeholders.

All About You

  • Significant experience as a Technical Product Manager, Principal PM-T, Platform Product Manager, or similar product leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of software engineering, platform architecture, APIs, distributed systems, and modern product development practices.
  • Experience operating across multiple engineering teams, products, or technology domains.
  • Proven ability to drive prioritisation and investment decisions in complex, matrixed organisations.
  • Strong understanding of platform strategy, capability modelling, portfolio management, and architecture-driven planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with engineers, architects, product leaders, and executives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and independently driving clarity, alignment, and outcomes.

  • Ensure demand is consistently aligned with platform strategy and capability investment priorities.
  • Improve visibility of platform capabilities, dependencies, and investment opportunities.
  • Increase adoption of reusable platform capabilities and reduce duplication across initiatives.
  • Enable better investment decisions through capability-based planning and portfolio analysis.

• Become a trusted technical product leader across Product Management, Architecture, and Engineering organisations.
