Title and Summary

The Software Engineer II is an experienced full-stack software engineer specializing in modern JavaScript technologies, React-based user interfaces, Node.js services, and distributed data platforms. This role independently develops scalable, secure, and cloud-ready applications while contributing to software design, architecture, operational excellence, production support, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in frontend and backend development, database design, API development, testing, and troubleshooting. They actively collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that drive business value and exceptional customer experiences.

What You Will Do

• Design and develop modern web applications using React, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and related technologies.
• Translate product and business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure technical solutions.
• Develop responsive, accessible, and high-performing user interfaces that provide exceptional user experiences across devices.
• Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Design and optimize data models using MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB based on application requirements.
• Develop modular, reusable, and maintainable software components following engineering best practices.
• Participate in software architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions.
• Create and maintain automated unit, integration, functional, and end-to-end tests.
• Apply secure coding practices and proactively address security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to engineering standards, quality initiatives, and knowledge sharing.
• Troubleshoot application, performance, database, and production issues using structured root cause analysis techniques.
• Monitor, maintain, and support applications in production environments with a focus on reliability and operational excellence.
• Optimize application performance across frontend, backend, APIs, and database layers.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams to deliver business capabilities.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, estimation, and continuous delivery activities.
• Research emerging technologies, frameworks, AI-assisted development tools, and engineering practices to improve team productivity and product quality.

All About You

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience developing applications using React and modern frontend ecosystems.
• Experience building backend services and APIs using Node.js and Express.js or similar frameworks.
• Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, responsive design principles, and frontend performance optimisation.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and integrating third-party services.
• Solid understanding of relational databases including MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Experience working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
• Understanding of database design, indexing strategies, query optimisation, and data modelling.
• Experience with source control systems such as Git and modern collaborative development workflows.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, and common design patterns.
• Experience creating automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and cloud-native application development concepts.
• Understanding of observability practices including logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience participating in code reviews and mentoring junior engineers.
• Exposure to containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes is a plus.
• Experience or exposure to AI-assisted development tools, AI-powered applications, autonomous agents, or agentic workflows.
• Agile Scrum development experience.

• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
