You'll work with senior engineers, AI Engineers, Data Scientists, Product Managers, and platform teams. This role is ideal for a software engineer with a strong foundation in backend or distributed systems who wants to apply those skills to scalable, secure, production-ready AI platforms.\nRole:\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain AI platform services and reusable capabilities that support AI-powered products, intelligent workflows, and agentic systems.\nImplement secure integration patterns for models, agents, tools, enterprise data, and services, with attention to authorization, auditability, and observability.\nContribute to orchestration and runtime capabilities, including routing, stateful workflows, and asynchronous processing for multi-step AI execution.\nBuild reusable components for model and tool invocation, context management, error handling, retries, and timeouts.\nApply established patterns for identity, permissions, policy enforcement, evaluation, and guardrails within AI execution paths.\nDevelop software that meets Mastercard standards for reliability, security, compliance, scalability, and performance.\nWrite and maintain unit, functional, and integration tests to validate component and system behavior.\nCollaborate with AI Engineers and Data Scientists to integrate models, prompts, and evaluation approaches into larger production systems.\nSupport operations through logging, monitoring, tracing, troubleshooting, incident investigation, and continuous improvement.\nTake part in code reviews and technical design discussions, document solutions, and share knowledge with peers.\nAll About You:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.\nProfessional experience building and supporting production-grade software systems, services, or platform capabilities.\nProficiency in object-oriented programming and backend development using Java, Kotlin, Python, or a similar language.\nSolid foundation in software design, data structures, and the software development lifecycle.\nExperience developing APIs, services, integrations, or asynchronous workflows.\nWorking knowledge of authentication, authorization, secure service-to-service communication, and API security.\nUnderstanding of secure coding practices, reliability, observability, automated testing, and production support.\nAbility to work in evolving problem spaces, learn emerging AI technologies, and deliver solutions iteratively, with guidance when needed.\nPreferred Skills:\nExperience integrating LLMs, machine learning models, or AI services into software applications.\nFamiliarity with agent frameworks, workflow engines, orchestration platforms, retrieval patterns, or AI evaluation tools.\n• Exposure to audit-friendly, policy-driven platforms, guardrails, or responsible AI practices.Mastercard is a merit-based, inclusive, equal opportunity employer that considers applicants without regard to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disabled or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
