This role focuses on reducing chronic absenteeism and truancy through tiered interventions, cross-agency collaboration, and consistent family engagement. The RTM provides direct oversight and support to school-based staff and serves as the primary liaison to external partners, including DHS, family court, and community organizations. The goal is to address systemic attendance barriers and promote student re-engagement in academic life. Reporting to the Senior Director of School Culture and works closely with the Assistant Director of Attendance and Compliance, this position collaborates with Network Support Team (NST) colleagues, school based personnel, local district offices, and community partners to align of resources to meet the needs of our students and families (as it relates to attendance and family engagement).\nDuties & Responsibilities:\nEssential Job Functions: \nSupport Attendance Coordinators across multiple campuses to ensure consistent implementation of Mastery’s multi-tiered Truancy Response Systems.\nMonitor and analyze attendance data to identify students in need of interventions and evaluate program impact.\nConduct and coordinate home visits to engage families, assess barriers to attendance, and implement individualized support plans.\nReview and assess the quality of Student Attendance Improvement Plans (SAIPs) developed by school teams to ensure they are actionable, data-informed, and aligned with student needs.\nMaintain accurate documentation of all truancy-related interventions and case notes.\nServe as liaison with Regional Truancy\nEnsure compliance with truancy regulations and required reporting to state and district entities. \nRepresent Mastery in truancy proceedings and coordinate escalated support as needed.\nCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address structural barriers to consistent attendance.\nProvide regular updates to network leadership on attendance trends, challenges, and intervention outcomes.\nComplete required professional development and stay current with truancy-related policies and best practices.\nOther related assigned duties by manager. \nQualifications:\nA strong commitment to pursuing equity and improving educational outcomes in historically underserved communities.\nProven ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including families, school staff and community partners.\nDeep understanding of truancy laws, attendance regulations, and student support frameworks in PA/NJ.\nExperience implementing attendance interventions and truancy prevention strategies.\nStrong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. \nAbility to analyze attendance data and develop data-driven action plans.\nStrong problem-solving abilities with a compassionate, family-centered approach.\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Tools); comfort using attendance data systems.\nExcellent written and oral communication skills; including presentation and training facilitation skills.\nAbility to manage multiple school sites and navigate a dynamic workload.\nComfort working in a dynamic environment where priorities may evolve in response to student needs or organizational goals, with clear communication and support.\nLanguage proficiency in both English and Spanish required for positions supporting Camden schools, including the ability to communicate effectively with students and families in both languages. \nEducation and Experience:\nBachelor’s degree preferred; candidates with equivalent professional experience in social work, education, case management, or related fields will also be considered.\nMinimum of 3 years of professional experience in attendance/truancy intervention, case management, or education.\nAt least 2 years of experience overseeing attendance strategies, compliance programs, or family engagement initiatives preferred. \nExperience working with historically underserved school communities, community agencies, social services, or advocacy organizations in Philadelphia.\nPrior experience managing a caseload or coordinating services across agencies highly valued. \nFluency in English/Spanish required\nOther Requirements:\nAbility to physically perform the essential duties of the role as outlined above, and to work in the environmental conditions required, such as traveling to network campuses, monitoring and interacting with students, in-person facilitation of trainings, etc.;\nThis role may require frequent travel between multiple locations. Reliable transportation is essential to fulfill job responsibilities. \nSalary and Bonus Information:\nExternal candidates hired for this role are eligible for a $3,000 signing bonus!\n The Regional Truancy Manager at Mastery can expect a starting salary between $64,500 - $72,500, based on education and experience, with opportunities for growth as your career progresses.
