You’ll partner closely with backend engineers to deliver features end to end-connecting recommendation logic, APIs, and experiments to polished Android experiences, analytics, and quality validation. You’ll grow your Android and recommendations-domain expertise while helping a collaborative, full-stack team improve discovery for millions of members worldwide.\nThe team is engineering-led and works closely with Recs ML and Infrastructure, Product, Data Science and Analytics, Design, QA, and engineering partners across Tinder.\nWhere you’ll work:\nThis is a hybrid role based in Palo Alto, California, and requires in-office collaboration three times per week.\nIn this role, you will:\nContribute to the architecture, design, and implementation of consumer-facing recommendation features in the Tinder Android app.\n\nBuild polished, intuitive experiences that connect recommendation logic, APIs, experiments, analytics, and quality validation for millions of members worldwide.\n\nOwn well-scoped features and components from planning and implementation through testing, experiment launch, and validation, with increasing independence.\n\nCollaborate closely with Android and backend engineers, Product, Design, Data Science and Analytics, QA, ML, Infrastructure, and partner teams across Tinder.\n\nWrite maintainable, well-tested Kotlin code and help protect app health, performance, reliability, and member experience.\n\nBuild modern Android interfaces with Jetpack Compose while working effectively with existing View-based or legacy code where needed.\n\nInvestigate bugs, ANRs, performance regressions, and other quality issues using a structured approach; identify root causes and add appropriate tests or monitoring.\n\nContribute to modular Android architecture, shared libraries, technical improvements, code reviews, and engineering practices that make the team more effective.\n\nCommunicate progress, risks, dependencies, and technical tradeoffs clearly and proactively.\n\nDevelop expertise in Tinder’s Android architecture, card-stack and recommendation systems, and progress toward broader end-to-end project ownership.\n\nUse AI-assisted development tools effectively and responsibly to improve prototyping, implementation, testing, delivery speed, and quality.\n\nYou'll need:\nApproximately 2+ years of professional experience building and shipping production, consumer-facing applications with native Android technologies.\n\nProficiency in Kotlin and modern Android development, including Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.\n\nExperience building user-facing features with Jetpack Compose and familiarity with Android Views and interoperability.\n\nExperience using Android Studio, Gradle, and the Android SDK throughout the application-development lifecycle.\n\nExperience consuming REST APIs and integrating mobile features with backend services.\n\nFamiliarity with common Android architecture patterns such as MVVM and separation of UI, business logic, and data access.\n\nExperience with Git and collaborative development workflows such as pull requests and code reviews.\n\nAbility to write testable, maintainable code and create unit or UI tests using tools such as JUnit, Mockito, Espresso, or Compose UI testing.\n\nSolid debugging and code-quality fundamentals, including the ability to give and receive actionable code-review feedback.\n\nClear, solution-oriented communication and a willingness to learn and collaborate in a cross-functional environment.\n\nAn ownership mindset with the ability to deliver well-scoped work, surface risks, and follow through from implementation to launch validation.\n\nNice to have:\nExperience working with Java or RxJava in an existing production Android codebase and modernizing code toward Kotlin and Coroutines.\n\nFamiliarity with modular Android architectures, dependency injection, repository patterns, and use-case layers.\n\nExperience with Dagger or Hilt, Retrofit, OkHttp, Moshi, or related Android networking and dependency-management tools.\n\nExperience with static analysis and quality tooling such as Detekt, ktlint, Android Lint, snapshot testing, or performance testing.\n\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines, feature flags, experimentation platforms, product analytics, design systems, or mobile observability tools.\n\nExperience building recommendation, discovery, personalization, social, messaging, marketplace, or other feature-rich consumer experiences at scale.\n\nFamiliarity with card-stack, gesture-heavy, animation-rich, or performance-sensitive mobile interfaces.\n\nFamiliarity with AI-assisted development tools and responsible practices for validating generated or unfamiliar code and protecting sensitive information.\n\nA BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is welcome but not required; demonstrated proficiency in modern Android technologies and principles matters most.","description_format":"text","description_chars":5445,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":2,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":true},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Dating & Relationships"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-04T01:43:46Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"US","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"H-1B filings in 12 months: 12","filings_12m":12,"filings_prev_12m":9,"green_card_filings_12m":0,"median_offered_wage_usd":157500,"route":null,"cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-15T11:24:14+00:00","sources":["US Department of Labor: LCA disclosure data (H-1B, H-1B1, E-3)","US Department of Labor: PERM disclosure data (green cards)"],"filings_for_role_12m":4}],"liveness":{"score":43,"band":"fade","label":"Fading","p_open":1,"p_active":0.568,"p_room":0.75,"age_days":48,"expected_fill_days":66,"reasons":["conf:0","stale_co","velocity","win:late"],"computed_at":"2026-10-22T06:10:10Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":160000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/match-group-software-engineer-ii-android","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/match-group-software-engineer-ii-android.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-22T11:33:15Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":9519,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-23T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":4277},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=4277"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fmatch-group-software-engineer-ii-android"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fmatch-group-software-engineer-ii-android"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fmatch-group-software-engineer-ii-android"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/match-group-software-engineer-ii-android\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fmatch-group-software-engineer-ii-android"}]}
