This role involves designing and implementing advanced communications systems across major transit infrastructure projects.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead the design of complex communications systems, including fibre backbone networks, CCTV, access control, public address, telephony, passenger signage, radio, intrusion detection, fare systems, SCADA, and master clock solutions\nDevelop and review technical design deliverables such as layouts, risers, elevations, schedules, wiring diagrams, and fibre termination diagrams\nOversee and approve technical documentation, including specifications, reports, calculations, test plans, test procedures, and test reports to ensure compliance with project requirements\nApply systems engineering, systems integration, and assurance principles to communications designs for large rail infrastructure projects\nIncorporate cybersecurity standards into system architecture and ensure designs meet relevant rail cyber requirements\nSupport construction and commissioning activities, including testing and commissioning, site visits, as-built reviews, and field issue resolution\nCollaborate closely with multidisciplinary design teams, BIM specialists, and discipline leads to deliver fully integrated solutions\nProvide technical leadership on LRT, subway, transit hub, and rail yard projects through all phases\nJob Requirements:\nExperience in rail communications systems, designing and delivering complex systems on large transit infrastructure projects\nEngineering degree in a relevant discipline, with P.Eng. designation considered highly desirable\nStrong understanding of IP-based networking and the full suite of rail communications systems, including SCADA, fibre networks, CCTV, passenger announcement (PA), radio, and access control\nDemonstrated experience applying systems engineering, system integration, and assurance principles across multidisciplinary rail projects\nWorking knowledge of rail cybersecurity standards (e.g., CISSP, GICSP, IEC 62443) considered a strong asset\nProven ability to interpret, review, and develop technical documentation-design packages, reports, specifications, and test documentation-with precision and clarity\nBenefits:\nCompetitive salary\nOpportunity to work on a variety of interesting and challenging projects\nProfessional development and training opportunities\nSupportive and collaborative work environment\nEmployee benefits package\nIf you are an experienced Communications Engineer/Designer looking for a new opportunity to further develop your career, we would love to hear from you.
