This role involves providing conceptual schemes and working designs for the company's product line, which includes aircraft 'Hush houses', aero-engine test cells, and acoustic chambers, using advanced computer-aided design tools.\nKey Responsibilities:\nRealising the designs into working shop drawings, bills of materials, installation & assembly drawings, instructions and diagrams.\nEngaging the services of specialist engineers where necessary.\nCreating design schemes in sufficient detail for shop drawings and managing the manufacturing tasks.\nContributing to the creation of technical specifications and scopes of work.\nSourcing cost-effective components, materials, and vendors.\nInspecting manufactured items to verify compliance with design drawings and specifications.\nSelecting components for mechanical and electromechanical systems.\nProducing designs and renderings for proposals and sales departments.\nAssisting with the development of operations and maintenance manuals.\nJob Requirements:\nHigh proficiency in the use of Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Product Design and Manufacturing suite, with beneficial experience in Solidworks.\nExperience in concept design, including generating detailed 2D/3D assemblies and managing drawing libraries.\nUnderstanding of the entire lifecycle of the design process from planning to implementation.\nSound knowledge of GD&T and the ability to produce drawings to BS 8888.\nExperience in an ISO9001:2015 environment, maintaining QA controls and procedures.\nStructured approach to recording and documenting designs.\nAbility to work autonomously and as part of a wider team.\nFamiliarity with control systems, electrical/electronic symbols, and wiring diagrams.\nKnowledge of structural design, including steelworks and civil construction.\nFamiliarity with mechanical, fuel, compressed air, water cooling, and hydraulic systems and relevant standards.\nTechnical qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.\nComputer literacy, especially with MS Office programs.\nWillingness to work on-site, including possible overseas travel for project support.\nInvolvement in project and office support as required.\nAdditional Skills/Notes:\nInternational travel may be required for UK and overseas customers.\nKnowledge of CFD is advantageous.\nA Full UK Driving Licence is preferred.\nThe role primarily involves office-based work.\nIf you are a skilled Design Engineer looking to further develop your career in the aerospace industry, we would love to hear from you.
