You'll be involved end-to-end from concept through detailed design, verification, integration and test, working closely with wider engineering teams.\nThe role\nYou'll contribute to board and unit-level hardware design, ensuring designs are robust, testable and suitable for introduction into production. The work includes supporting internal test activity as well as external environments (EMC test houses and customer installations where required).\nKey responsibilities\nDetailed electronic circuit design, including:component selection and evaluation\nschematic capture\ncircuit simulation and analysis\nsupporting PCB layout teams through the design cycle\n\nBoard and unit-level design & test, including interfaces to higher-level assemblies/systems\nDesign verification using a blend of simulation, analysis, and practical test methods\nSupport EMC testing activity (including liaising with external test houses) and support to customer installations when needed\nProduce and maintain design documentation, technical reports, and supporting evidence packs (acceptance, fitness for purpose, safety/legislative requirements)\nSpecify and support bespoke procured hardware\nWork collaboratively across disciplines (systems, embedded software, PLD/FPGA engineers, test, integration)\nSupport system integration activities and contribute to defect resolution\nParticipate in progress reviews, peer reviews and design reviews\nContribute to developing technical requirement specifications and support higher-level system design as required\nEssential experience\nDegree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering (or closely related)\nProven experience producing component-level electronic designs that can be introduced into volume production\nStrong digital design background including (as applicable):processor interfacing\nmemory devices\nPLD interfacing\nUART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet\n\nExperience with ADC/DAC devices and associated techniques\nSolid analogue design experience (op-amps, transistor-level design, control loops, low-noise techniques)\nExperience with design proving, integration, and defect resolution\nComfortable working to cost and timescale constraints\nAble to communicate complex technical detail clearly and produce strong documentation\nDesirable experience\nDefence or high safety integrity environment experience\nLow-noise analogue techniques\n High power techniques (kW-level)\nFPGA/CPLD development exposure\nMentoring/coaching other engineers (depending on seniority)\nClearance / eligibility\nYou must be able to obtain and maintain BPSS and full SC, and meet UK eyes only / ITAR
