This is far more than a machining role. You'll be responsible for leading complex build activities, influencing engineering decisions, mentoring others and driving continuous improvements across manufacturing and assembly operations.\nWorking closely with design engineers and project teams, you'll play a key role in turning innovative concepts into reality, providing the practical expertise needed to manufacture, assemble and commission complex engineering systems.\nThe Opportunity\nThis position is ideally suited to someone who enjoys combining hands-on engineering with technical leadership. You'll take ownership of challenging projects, provide guidance on manufacturing strategy and be a trusted voice in determining how products are produced, assembled and delivered.\nYou'll have the opportunity to influence workshop capability, introduce new manufacturing techniques and help develop the next generation of engineering talent.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the delivery of complex manufacturing, assembly and commissioning activities\nProvide expert advice on manufacturability, tooling, processes and production methods\nAct as the primary technical interface between engineering design teams and workshop operations\nTake ownership of technically challenging projects and critical customer deliverables\nProgram, set and operate CNC machinery where required, supporting the most demanding manufacturing tasks\nDrive root cause investigations and resolve engineering and manufacturing issues\nSupport project planning, estimating and scheduling activities\nIdentify and implement process improvements to enhance workshop capability and efficiency\nChampion engineering excellence, quality and best practice across the workshop\nMentor technicians, apprentices and junior engineers, sharing knowledge and developing capability within the team\nSupport the introduction of new technologies, equipment and manufacturing methods\nAbout You\nYou'll be an accomplished manufacturing engineer, senior machinist or workshop specialist with a strong technical background and the confidence to influence engineering outcomes.\nEssential Experience\nSignificant experience within precision engineering, advanced manufacturing or mechanical engineering\nStrong CNC programming and machining expertise\nProven experience supporting technically complex engineering projects\nAbility to interpret engineering requirements and develop practical manufacturing solutions\nAdvanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills\nExperience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams\nStrong leadership, mentoring and communication skills\nPassion for quality, innovation and continuous improvement\nDesirable\nCNC Milling, Turning and/or Manual Grinding experience\nKnowledge of Mazatrol, Siemens and Heidenhain controls\nExperience with CAD/CAM platforms including SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or FeatureCAM\nHNC, HND, Degree or equivalent
