By advancing robust, high-performance hydrogen fuel systems and ensuring their seamless integration into aircraft platforms, you will directly contribute to making zero-emission air travel commercially viable at scale. Your work will help overcome some of the most complex engineering and safety challenges in hydrogen aviation, supporting certification and enabling a sustainable future for aerospace.\nKey Responsibilities\nThe Hydrogen Fuel Systems Engineer will:\nOwn the design and development of gaseous and cryogenic hydrogen fuel systems, including storage, distribution, and conditioning architectures.\nDefine, capture, and manage requirements at both system and component levels, including cryogenic storage vessels, valves, heat exchangers, lines, and safety-critical hardware.\nSupport integration by defining system layouts, component packaging, and interfaces for onboard hydrogen systems.\nLead supplier management and development activities for components within the hydrogen system, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and compliance with programme requirements.\nEvaluate supplier designs against performance, safety, reliability, and certification requirements by providing technical guidance and design oversight throughout the development lifecycle.\nDefine and execute verification, validation, and testing strategies across hydrogen components, subsystems, and full system level.\nOversee the operational management of hydrogen refuelling and testing facilities.\nPerform system architecture, safety analysis (FHA, FMEA, FTA, HAZOP, LOPA, DSEAR/ATEX), and performance validation, driving design improvements and technical decisions.\nEnsure compliance with aerospace regulations, industrial gas standards, and hazardous area practices.\nRequirements\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, with strong experience in gas and cryogenic systems, including hydrogen and high-pressure environments.\nProven expertise in designing, integrating, and testing gaseous and cryogenic hydrogen systems.\nExperience performing system sizing, analysis, and validation of gas systems using engineering modelling tools.\nExtensive knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid/gas dynamics, and system performance analysis.\nHands-on experience with pressure testing, leak detection (e.g., helium), and validation of fluid and vacuum systems.\nExperience applying system safety and reliability methods (FHA, FMEA/FMECA, FTA) and using engineering tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB, Python, and CAD.\nStrong understanding of hydrogen safety, cryogenic systems, and relevant regulatory frameworks;
