This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist Applied Chemometrics Centre of Excellence, supporting cutting-edge scientific projects through the application of analytical chemistry, data science and chemometric methodologies.\nWorking as part of a highly skilled laboratory team, you will help deliver robust chemical and sensory analysis, process complex datasets and contribute to the development of innovative analytical capabilities that support product development and scientific research.\nKey Responsibilities\nApply chemometric techniques and methodologies to support chemical and sensory assessment projects.\nProcess and analyse data generated through a range of analytical chemistry techniques, ensuring quality, accuracy and compliance.\nProvide analytical chemistry and chemometrics expertise to support reliable and scientifically robust results.\nAssist in the development of new analytical methods and capabilities to meet evolving business requirements.\nSupport the application of chemometrics across a variety of product development and research programmes.\nInterpret complex data and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nContribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory and analytical functions.\nAbout You\nTo be successful in this role, you will have a strong scientific background combined with experience of chemometrics, analytical chemistry and data analysis.\nEssential Skills & Experience\nPractical experience of chemometrics, including supervised and unsupervised statistical methods.\nKnowledge of analytical statistics such as ANOVA, hypothesis testing and comparative data analysis.\nExperience using data science programming languages such as Python, MATLAB or R.\nPrevious experience working within a chemistry or analytical laboratory environment.\nExperience handling and interpreting analytical chemistry data, ideally from chromatographic techniques (GC, LC) and spectrometric methods (MS).\nStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with exceptional attention to detail.\nAbility to develop solutions to technical challenges and contribute to process improvement.\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.\nSelf-motivated, proactive and adaptable, with a genuine interest in scientific innovation and continuous learning.\nStrong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.\nQualifications\nMSc, MPhil or PhD in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, Food Chemistry, Biochemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.\nStrong statistical knowledge, including hypothesis testing, data analysis and multivariate interpretation.\nProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to work with laboratory databases and data management systems.\nWhat's On Offer?\nCompetitive hourly rate of £18.51 per hour (PAYE).\nOpportunity to work within a world-class R&D environment.\nExposure to innovative scientific projects and advanced analytical technologies.\nPotential for contract extension beyond the initial 6-month term.\nCollaborative, highly skilled research and laboratory team.\nIf you have a passion for analytical science, chemometrics and data-driven problem solving, we'd like to hear from you.
