They are seeking a Senior Buyer to lead strategic and operational procurement activity for live civils and infrastructure projects within a permanent position. \nThis site- and stakeholder-facing role will support projects delivered through frameworks, alliances, joint ventures and standalone schemes. It will involve sourcing materials and services, managing supplier relationships, negotiating commercial terms and ensuring procurement activity supports programme, budget, quality and compliance requirements.\nKey Responsibilities:\nRepresent Procurement at tender, pre-start and key stakeholder meetings\nWork closely with project and operational teams to source and expedite materials and services in line with programme and budget requirements\nEnsure purchasing activity remains compliant with relevant frameworks, procurement strategies and internal processes\nBuild and manage supplier and category relationships, monitoring performance and contractual compliance\nNegotiate pricing, terms and contracts to deliver value without compromising quality, safety or service\nSupport sustainability and social value objectives through supply chain innovation and improved product choices\nMonitor market trends and lead activity for allocated commodities or categories\nMaintain an auditable procurement trail, accurate procurement schedules and up-to-date purchase order and supply chain records\nAdditional Responsibilities:\nProduce spend reports, cost analysis and procurement performance information\nSupport departmental KPI delivery through data analysis and corrective actions\nMonitor costs against project and framework budgets\nLead and mentor assigned team members, managing performance where appropriate\nPromote best practice and continuous improvement across the procurement function\nJob Requirements:\nExperience in procurement or purchasing within the construction or civil engineering sector\nUnderstanding of relevant construction regulations, standards and supply chain requirements\nStrong negotiation skills, with the ability to build long-term supplier relationships and deliver savings and value\nCommercial awareness and experience controlling and monitoring budgets\nExcellent stakeholder management and communication skills across internal and external teams\nAnalytical, detail-oriented and proactive approach to problem-solving\nExperience with materials and services such as pipework, valves, aggregates, precast, ready-mix concrete, muckaway, waste management or soil testing\nFull UK driving licence\nDesirable Skills and Qualifications:\nExperience of procurement within the water sector\nCIPS qualification, or a willingness to work towards one\nRelevant qualification in procurement, supply chain, engineering or business, such as an ONC, HNC, HND or degree\nConfidence presenting to senior stakeholders, with strong PowerPoint and presentation skills\nStrong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications\nBenefits:\nPension and life assurance\nPrivate medical cover\n25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, with service and loyalty recognition\nVolunteering allowance and employee assistance programme wellbeing support\nFlexible benefits, including salary sacrifice options\nVehicle or car allowance scheme, depending on role requirements\nLeadership and management development, structured reviews, appraisals and long-service awards\nOur client offers a strong pipeline of long-term infrastructure work, broad exposure across civils and M&E projects, and a clear promote-from-within culture.
