Working on innovative VHF, UHF and next-generation communications systems, you will lead and coordinate complex engineering development projects from concept through to product introduction, supporting customers across civil aviation, defence and critical infrastructure markets worldwide. \nWith a long-standing reputation for technical excellence, innovation and employee development, this organisation offers an outstanding environment for ambitious engineers looking to further develop their project leadership and technical management skills while working with cutting-edge technologies.\nThe Role\nAs a Senior Project Engineer, you will coordinate and organise engineering development activities across multiple projects, working closely with Project Leads, Product Architects, technical specialists and multidisciplinary engineering teams. \nYou will play a critical role in planning, scheduling, risk management, resource coordination and project delivery, ensuring internal and outsourced development projects are successfully delivered against technical, commercial and business objectives.\nKey Responsibilities\nCoordinate and support multiple engineering development projects simultaneously\nMaintain and manage key project documentation, including Project Quality Plans, Product Release Plans and Statements of Work\nWork with Project Leads to define, plan and document project activities and deliverables\nIdentify and coordinate engineering resource requirements\nSchedule and track project activities against development roadmaps and delivery commitments\nMonitor project progress and ensure engineering teams maintain accurate task status updates\nIdentify, document and manage project risks, issues and mitigation plans\nProvide accurate project reporting to engineering leadership and wider business stakeholders\nSupport the generation, management and traceability of project requirements\nEnsure required development equipment, tools and materials are identified and available throughout the project lifecycle\nCoordinate procurement of prototype hardware, PCBs, metalwork and development materials\nEscalate project blockers and delivery risks in a timely manner\nOrganise and facilitate technical reviews, project meetings and stakeholder reviews\nManage outsourced development activities and third-party engineering partners\nEnsure all internal dependencies are delivered to support external development programmes\nDrive successful delivery of product roadmap activities and key project milestones\nSupport departmental planning, resource forecasting and continuous improvement initiatives\nMaintain regular communication with Programme Management, Procurement, Operations and other internal stakeholders\nWhat We're Looking For\nApplicants should ideally hold a First-Class or Upper Second-Class (2:1) degree in Engineering, Electronics, Communications, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline, alongside experience working within engineering product development environments. \nA strong academic background in Mathematics and Science is highly desirable.\nEssential / Desirable Experience\nEngineering project coordination or project management experience\nProduct development lifecycle knowledge from concept through manufacture and product introduction\nExperience within engineering design and development environments\nProject planning and scheduling using structured methodologies\nRisk identification, assessment and mitigation management\nTechnical documentation, reporting and stakeholder communication\nResource planning and project delivery coordination\nStakeholder management across engineering, operations and commercial functions\nExperience working within highly regulated, safety-critical or technology-led industries\nWorking with multidisciplinary engineering teams\nAdvantageous Technical Experience\nExperience or exposure to one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:\nProject management tools such as MS Project, Jira or similar\nERP/MRP systems such as SAP or equivalent\nCommunications systems and modulation techniques\nElectronic circuit design, prototyping and development\nAnalogue, digital and RF electronics\nFPGA technologies and firmware development\nEmbedded software design and implementation\nSoftware development methodologies\nProgramming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, JavaScript or HTML\nDigital Signal Processing (DSP)\nNetwork technologies and communication protocols\nCAD design of mechanical components and assemblies\nProduct introduction into manufacturing environments\nCandidates are not expected to possess experience across every technical area listed.
