The position involves translating complex customer requirements into practical, deliverable test systems across hardware, software, mechanical and production disciplines.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead requirements capture with customers and stakeholders through workshops, needs analysis, concepts of operation and use cases\nTranslate customer needs into clear, structured and verifiable system and subsystem requirements, maintaining full traceability\nIdentify gaps, conflicts and ambiguity in requirements and drive effective resolution\nDefine system concepts, functional and physical architectures, and internal and external interfaces\nSupport trade-off studies and technology selection while balancing performance, safety, reliability, maintainability, obsolescence, cost and schedule\nMaintain technical coherence across multidisciplinary teams as detailed design develops\nSupport technical governance, including design reviews, maturity evidence, technical decisions, deviations and change control\nDefine verification and validation strategies, acceptance criteria and required evidence, while supporting test planning, integration, commissioning and issue resolution\nCustomer and Project Engagement:\nThis customer-facing role requires regular communication with project leadership, engineering teams, customers and delivery partners. The Systems Engineer will provide clear technical updates, coordinate actions across disciplines and identify delivery risks at an early stage. Practical involvement in laboratory integration, test readiness, acceptance testing and commissioning will also be expected.\nJob Requirements:\nExperience in systems engineering or a similar technical integration role involving complex engineered products or systems\nStrong systems design, requirements capture and stakeholder management skills\nAbility to lead workshops, clarify ambiguity and develop practical, delivery-focused solutions\nUnderstanding of system architectures, interfaces, verification methods and validation strategies\nConfident communication skills, with the ability to engage customers, non-specialists and multidisciplinary engineering teams\nPractical and proactive approach, with a willingness to support laboratory integration, acceptance testing and commissioning\nAbility to take ownership of technical actions from initiation through to completion and coordinate multiple engineering inputs\nRight to work in the UK and willingness to undertake occasional UK and international travel, including overnight stays\nDesirable Experience:\nExperience working in regulated sectors such as aerospace, defence, space, rail or energy\nKnowledge of test systems, automated test equipment or instrumentation-led solutions\nFamiliarity with requirements traceability, configuration management and change control\nUnderstanding of verification methods including analysis, inspection, demonstration and test\nExperience working with distributed or international engineering teams and delivery partners\nLocation and Working Arrangements:\nThe role offers flexibility regarding UK location, although regular on-site working is required at the Bournemouth facility and/or customer and partner sites.
