About the role
Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg is seeking an experienced CSSD Technician to join our team. We have both a Casual and a permanent part-time position, contracted to 16 hours per week. Our CSSD department operates Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend shifts available. Operating hours range from 6:30am to 8:30pm.In this role you will provide an efficient and effective preparation and sterilisation service by utilising a high standard of skills and procedures by industry and hospital guidelines. You also will assist the perioperative clinical team in delivering clinical care under the direction and supervision of the Registered and Enrolled Nurses when necessary.
Our Perioperative Department features three operating theatres and one procedure room, where we perform over 4,400 procedures annually. We specialise in a wide range of surgical services including gynaecology, general surgery, orthopaedics, reconstructive plastics, urology, ophthalmology, respiratory procedures, and more. Salary range: $35.05 - $39.04 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Apply appropriate cleaning methods, disinfecting agents and procedures on surgical instrumentation.
- Process equipment for transfer to an external sterilising unit where necessary.
- Maintain a sound knowledge of surgical instruments and packaging techniques.
- Conduct all sterilisation procedures following accepted sterilisation methods and principles.
- Process endoscopic equipment for multi-use purposes.
- Store sterilised items appropriately to maintain sterility and maximise access and efficiency.
- Perform functions within the scope of practice according to accepted clinical principles, standards, and regulations.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following criteria:
- A demonstrated understanding of infection control principles.
- Basic computer skills
- A background working in a clinical / health care background
- Practical interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable:
- Exposure to Sterilisation Services in a healthcare environment
- Certificate III in Sterilisation Services, or the ability to provide evidence of working towards attainment within the first six months.
- Previous experience in a CSSD role with the ability to work in all areas with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.
