At Materialise Manufacturing, we believe that revolutionizing industries starts with bringing ideas to life in smarter ways. If you’re passionate about helping customers turn concepts into high-quality parts, you’ll love being a part of this team. Through our digital manufacturing services, companies are accelerating the complete product development life cycle.

We are looking for a motivated and technically skilled Design Engineer to reinforce our Design & Engineering team. In this role, you will develop deep expertise in Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) and additive manufacturing technologies, helping customers transform ideas, applications, and existing products into optimized and manufacturable AM solutions.

As part of our global Design & Engineering team, you will work on a wide variety of projects across industries such as aerospace, medtech, semiconductor, and consumer products. This role combines product design, engineering, problem-solving, and close collaboration with customers, sales, and production teams to deliver innovative and production-ready solutions.

What will you do

· Collaborate with sales teams and internal stakeholders to understand customer requirements, technical challenges, and project expectations

· Design and optimize parts and assemblies for additive manufacturing, balancing functionality, manufacturability, quality, and cost

· Work closely with local production teams to improve product quality, manufacturability, and process efficiency through design improvements

· Support the development of scalable and repeatable solutions for series manufacturing

· Contribute to the Eyewear business through product and tool development, design optimization, and design automation initiatives

· Self-manage design and engineering projects from request to delivery, including technical documentation, stakeholder communication, and ensuring deadlines, priorities, and quality expectations are met

· Occasionally participate in customer visits, trade fairs, conferences, and technical workshops

· Occasionally support customer academies and training sessions by sharing DfAM and AM-related knowledge

· Stay informed about new AM technologies, tools, industry developments and actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the team

Your profile

· A master’s degree in mechanical engineering, product development, industrial design engineering, or equivalent experience through at least 1 to 3 years in a technical design or engineering role

· Knowledge of manufacturing processes; experience with additive manufacturing is a plus

  • Proficient CAD skills in SolidWorks, Rhinoceros/Grasshopper, Fusion 360, or equivalent, with motivation to further expand your software expertise
  • Affinity with DfAM, simulation methods (FEA, CFD), topology optimization is a plus
  • Experience with design automation, computational design, visual scripting or coding (Python) is an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Proactive, eager to learn, and able to work independently within multidisciplinary teams
