Join us!\nThe Production Supervisor will supervise and direct the activities of hourly personnel in the Operations Department for the safe, quality, and efficient execution of production plans to ensure availability of sufficient products to meet sales. Monitors plant operation and direct corrective actions when plant upsets or nonconforming product occur, seeking guidance, when necessary, from support staff and operations manager. Responsible for compliance with, safety, environmental quality, and HR policies that relate to plant operations, product quality, and managing direct reports. Drives continuous improvement in operating procedures and equipment operation to maximize efficiency and productivity. Maintains certain records of plant equipment, operating parameters, and operations. Communicates daily with maintenance, inspection, and production support groups to prioritize activities and guidance to meeting production targets.\nThis role is based at our facility in Tucson, AZ. The 2nd shift schedule is 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM.\nYou will have the opportunity to:\nPerform daily shift changeover meetings for shift goal setting, driving safety and performing fit for duty checks\nResponsible for ensuring that direct reports are compliant with all Materion and site EHS, quality, and human resource policies and procedures thataffect plant operations\nAssign, supervise, and review work of hourly personnel for assigned work unit. Monitor daily direct report performance and provide guidance andfeedback as needed to improve performance\nImplement production plans according to approved schedules\nReview recordkeeping and measurement of process variables\nReview shop packs for accuracy and completion and verify earned hours are entered correctly on daily basis\nComplete a daily equipment status report and shift report to accurately reflect the activities of the shift\nInspect and evaluate work in progress, identify any problem areas, and may direct remedial action with guidance from management\nSubmit worker orders for maintenance related issues\nReport products that missed schedule to planning for reschedule and reasons\nEvaluate performances of new employees and makes appropriate recommendations\nConduct performance evaluations of department employees\nProvide new employee orientation, area task and hazard training\nSupport development of operator qualification program. Facilitate operator qualification and ensure proper training documented are completed on time\nParticipate on safety teams, performing documented safety conversations, observing workers safety habits, investigating air sample excursions, near misses, incidents and/or accident investigations, and recognizing and reporting environmental discharges require awareness, education, and commonsense\nPerform duties assigned by the Operations Manager\nREQUIREMENTS:\nHigh School Diploma/GED required; college diploma preferred\nPrevious experience working in a manufacturing industry\nMinimum three years experience as a Shift Supervisor\nSelf-motivated and takes the initiative in accomplishing goals and objectives with minimal supervision\nMust have a firm grasp of process fundamentals and be able to learn the peculiarities of the operation quickly\nGood technical and problem-solving skills as well as good verbal and written communication skills\nAbility to absorb, organize and recall detailed information\nSets priorities, manages time effectively, and inspires others\nCan earn respect and promote good employee relations throughout the organization\nCredibility is critical; others within and outside the company will scrutinize behavior, values, integrity, and interpersonal skills\nAbility to lead and influence others is crucial. Strong mentoring skillset is also important\nComputer skills are essential.
