Depending on your educational background, interests, availability, and current business needs, opportunities may be available across a variety of departments and project teams.\nThis is an ongoing posting for current and future co-op and student opportunities. Applications will be reviewed as positions become available throughout the year.\nKey Responsibilities\nProject & Field Support\nDepending on the opportunity, students may:\nSupport project teams with day-to-day project coordination and administration.\nAssist with construction documentation, drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other project records.\nSupport site operations and coordination activities.\nAssist with project tracking, reporting, scheduling, and progress documentation.\nParticipate in site visits and gain exposure to construction activities and field operations.\nPre-Construction & Estimating Support\nAssist with quantity take-offs and other estimating activities.\nReview drawings, specifications, and project documentation.\nSupport bid preparation, subcontractor coordination, and pre-construction activities.\nGain exposure to the planning and estimating processes that support project delivery.\nLearning & Development\nWork alongside experienced construction and business professionals.\nDevelop an understanding of Matheson’s project lifecycle, systems, and operating environment.\nParticipate in student learning, networking, and development opportunities.\nReceive ongoing guidance and feedback from managers, mentors, and project team members.\nBuild practical skills and industry knowledge through hands-on experience.\nHealth, Safety & Compliance\nFollow Matheson’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.\nParticipate in required safety orientations and training.\nPromote a safe working environment and demonstrate a commitment to hazard awareness and prevention.\nFollow project and company policies, procedures, and standards.\nQualifications\nEducation & Experience\nCurrently enrolled in a recognized college or university co-op, internship, or work-integrated learning program.\nStudents pursuing studies in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or another related discipline are encouraged to apply.\nPrevious construction, project, or field experience is considered an asset but is not required.\nTechnical Skills\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications.\nAbility to learn new construction software, systems, and technical tools.\nBasic understanding of construction drawings and documentation is considered an asset.\nInterest in developing knowledge of construction methods, project coordination, and project delivery.\nSkills & Competencies\nStrong verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong organizational and time-management skills.\nHigh attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.\nStrong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.\nAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.\nDemonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn.\nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.\nRequirements\nAbility to work for the duration of the applicable co-op or student work term.\nAbility to work in an office and/or project site environment depending on the position.\nValid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle may be required for certain project-based opportunities.\nWork Term Opportunities\nMatheson recruits students throughout the year for Winter, Summer, and Fall work terms.\nOpportunities may vary by term, location, department, project requirements, and business needs.
