You will be responsible for managing cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contractual performance while maintaining strong relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.\nReporting to the Senior Project Manager and/or Construction Manager, this role holds decision-making authority across key project functions and ensures alignment with project objectives and company standards.\nKey Responsibilities\nProject Leadership & Execution\nLead all phases of project delivery, including planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and project close-out.\nOversee project performance, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule, quality, and contractual requirements.\nProvide direction and leadership to Project Coordinators and collaborate closely with Project Superintendents.\nEnsure successful project delivery in accordance with scope, specifications, and client expectations.\nParticipate in preconstruction activities, including logistics planning, permitting requirements, general conditions, insurance, bonds, and scheduling.\nContract Management\nSupport and/or lead subcontractor tendering processes, including development of trade scopes and bid packages.\nParticipate in subcontractor pre-award meetings and project startup activities.\nDemonstrate strong understanding of prime contracts and subcontract agreements.\nEnsure contract compliance and manage contractual obligations throughout the project lifecycle.\nRisk, Financial & Commercial Management\nDevelop and maintain project risk registers, including identification of potential risks, cost/schedule impacts, and mitigation strategies.\nManage project budgets and ensure timely and accurate billing submissions.\nMonitor project financial performance and support achievement of profitability targets.\nEnforce contractual payment terms and follow up with owners to ensure timely payments.\nIdentify revenue opportunities in collaboration with senior leadership and the Executive-in-Charge.\nPlanning & Scheduling\nDevelop, implement, and maintain comprehensive project schedules.\nEnsure accurate sequencing, resource allocation, and alignment with contractual milestones.\nMonitor schedule performance and proactively communicate updates and revisions to all stakeholders, including owners, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.\nHealth, Safety & Compliance\nMaintain a strong understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Matheson Constructors’ Health & Safety Program.\nPromote and enforce a strong safety culture across all project activities.\nEnsure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and regulatory requirements.\nSupport the commitment to workplace safety through leadership and accountability.\nQualifications\nEducation & Experience\nPost-secondary diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.\nMinimum five (5) years of progressive project management experience overseeing commercial construction projects (hard bid, AFP, and/or negotiated).\nExperience managing projects within mid-to-large general contracting environments.\nUnionized construction experience considered an asset.\nProfessional designations (P.Eng, LEED) considered an asset.\nTechnical Skills\nAbility to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, field drawings, and construction plans.\nStrong understanding of construction methods, trades, and sequencing.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).\nStrong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.\nStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.\nSkills & Competencies\nStrong leadership and team coordination abilities.\nExcellent relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.\nStrong organizational and time management skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nStrong analytical thinking and attention to detail.\nHigh level of accountability, dependability, and professionalism.\nRequirements\nValid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.\nAbility to travel to various project sites across Toronto and the GTA.\nWorking Conditions\nTravel to construction sites and field locations is required.\nExposure to active construction environments in all weather conditions.\nUse of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including CSA-approved safety boots, hard hat, and safety glasses.\nManual dexterity required for computer and office equipment use.\nAbility to attend meetings and site visits, including walking, standing, and physical movement.\nOccasional lifting or carrying of materials up to 50 lbs, including drawings and project documents.\nExtended work hours, overtime, and flexibility required to meet project deadlines.\nCombination of office, field, and site-based work environments.\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nMatheson Constructors is an equal opportunity employer.\nWe thank all applicants for their interest in this position;
