This is an excellent opportunity for a results-oriented professional who enjoys both strategic involvement and day-to-day leadership, and who wants to make a meaningful impact on the continued success of our organization.\nImmediate Priorities\nStabilize payroll and timekeeping processes and establish effective review and approval controls.\nImplement consistent project-level tracking of labor, materials, purchased services, and direct costs.\nEstablish disciplined accounts payable, vendor management, purchasing documentation, and invoice approval processes.\nStrengthen inventory controls for parts, supplies, consumables, and other materials.\nSupport business system integration efforts and reporting improvements.\nProvide concise weekly and monthly business reports that enable operational and financial decision-making.\nKey Responsibilities\nFinancial Leadership and Reporting\nLead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.\nPrepare and analyze financial statements, forecasts, budgets, cash-flow reporting, and management reports.\nEnsure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, balance sheet, reconciliations, and supporting records.\nAnalyze financial performance, explain variances and trends, and recommend actions to improve results.\nInventory and Cost Accounting\nOversee inventory accounting, reconciliation, valuation, controls, reserves, and reporting.\nLead cycle-count and physical inventory programs and resolve inventory discrepancies.\nMaintain costing methodologies and analyze material, labor, overhead, and production variances.\nPartner with operations to improve inventory accuracy, cost control, margins, and profitability.\nAudit, Controls, and Compliance\nLead external financial audits, inventory observations, tax requests, lender reporting, and related examinations.\nMaintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, documentation, and approval processes.\nEnsure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and applicable company policies.\nAddress audit findings and control gaps through documented corrective action.\nBudgeting and Operational Support\nLead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting activities.\nMonitor cash, working capital, receivables, payables, purchasing commitments, and inventory investment.\nSupport pricing, margin analysis, capital expenditures, staffing, and other business decisions.\nDevelop meaningful financial and operational performance measures for leadership.\nOffice Leadership and Administration\nLead, develop, and oversee office and administrative staff.\nEstablish procedures, workflows, calendars, document retention standards, and cross-training programs.\nServe as the General Manager's primary administrative partner.\nEscalate operational risks, control issues, vendor concerns, and employee matters promptly and professionally.\nTeam Leadership and Process Improvement\nLead, coach, and develop accounting staff while establishing clear responsibilities and review expectations.\nOversee core accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and payroll interfaces.\nEstablish strong procedures, documentation, backup coverage, and accountability across the accounting function.\nIdentify and implement practical process, system, reporting, and control improvements.\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.\nCPA, CMA, or comparable advanced accounting credential preferred.\nEight or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including hands-on controllership or senior accounting leadership responsibility.\nStrong experience with financial reporting, general-ledger accounting, month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation.\nStrong knowledge of inventory accounting, cost accounting, physical inventory, cycle counts, reserves, and variance analysis.\nExperience in manufacturing, fabrication, machining, mining, industrial services, equipment repair, project-based operations, or a similar environment preferred.\nExperience with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, process improvement, and advanced Microsoft Excel.\nAbility to lead accounting staff and partner effectively with operational leaders, executives, auditors, lenders, and advisors.\nWork Environment\nThis is an on-site position in the Belle, West Virginia area. The role operates primarily in an office environment but requires regular interaction with manufacturing, warehouse, and operational areas. The position may require additional hours during month-end and year-end close, audits, budgeting cycles, system changes, and physical inventory activities.
