The General Manager will provide strategic and hands-on leadership while ensuring customer commitments, operational continuity, and continued business growth.\nThis role requires a strong operational leader who can balance customer expectations, workforce leadership, safety compliance, financial accountability, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nKey Responsibilities: Safety and Compliance\nLead a culture where safety is the highest priority.\nEstablish and enforce safe work practices, risk assessments, incident investigations, corrective actions, and safety training.\nEnsure compliance with applicable regulatory, environmental, and industry requirements.\nMaintain effective controls for welding operations, hot work, electrical work, cranes and rigging, mobile equipment, lockout/tagout, confined spaces, and personal protective equipment.\nEnsure required permits, inspections, certifications, and training records remain current.\nOperations and Customer Delivery\nOversee production scheduling and execution of new equipment builds, rebuilds, repairs, and service projects.\nCoordinate labor, equipment, materials, engineering support, and outside services to meet customer commitments.\nMonitor backlog, work-in-process, production flow, asset utilization, throughput, and schedule performance.\nCommunicate directly with customers regarding priorities, project status, risks, scope changes, and delivery expectations.\nImplement and maintain disciplined work-order, project tracking, and reporting processes.\nQuality, Engineering, and Asset Management\nEnsure products and repairs meet quality standards and customer requirements.\nMaintain control of drawings, revisions, bills of materials, technical documentation, inspections, and certifications.\nSupport quality assurance programs, welding qualifications, testing requirements, calibration programs, and root-cause investigations.\nEnsure facilities, equipment, tooling, vehicles, and production assets are maintained and capable of supporting operational demands.\nIdentify and prioritize capital improvement opportunities.\nFinancial Management\nOwn facility financial performance, including budgets, profitability, cost control, inventory management, purchasing, and operational forecasting.\nEnsure accurate job costing and project-level tracking of labor, materials, subcontracted services, and equipment utilization.\nReview operating results and develop corrective actions to improve productivity and profitability.\nMaintain effective business controls, data accuracy, and reporting processes.\nLeadership and Workforce Development\nDevelop a high-performing leadership team with clear expectations and accountability.\nRecruit, hire, onboard, develop, and retain skilled trades, supervisors, planners, technicians, and administrative staff.\nPromote employee engagement, communication, training, and career development.\nEstablish succession planning and cross-training programs to support business continuity.\nFoster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.\nBusiness Growth and Strategic Execution\nSupport strategic initiatives that improve operational efficiency, capacity, customer service, and profitability.\nEvaluate new business opportunities based on available resources, technical capabilities, risk, and financial return.\nPartner with executive leadership to implement operational and growth objectives.\nDrive process improvements and standardization efforts across the operation.\nQualifications\nEducation\nBachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.\nExperience\nMinimum of 10 years of leadership experience in manufacturing, heavy industrial operations, fabrication, mining, equipment repair, maintenance, or a related industry.\nProven success managing a facility, business unit, division, or major operational function.\nDemonstrated accountability for safety, quality, delivery performance, financial results, workforce leadership, and customer satisfaction.\nStrong knowledge of production planning, purchasing, inventory management, job costing, quality systems, and industrial operations.\nExperience leading through organizational change, operational improvement, and business growth initiatives.\nExcellent communication, customer relationship management, and problem-solving skills.\nWork Environment\nThis role requires regular presence within active manufacturing, fabrication, maintenance, and customer environments. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn as required.
