In this role, you’ll take ownership of industrial automation projects from initial design and functional specifications through programming, testing, commissioning, and start-up.\nYou’ll work with a variety of clients and industries, solving complex controls challenges using PLC, DCS, HMI, and industrial networking technologies. This is a great opportunity for an experienced automation engineer who enjoys technical variety, client interaction, project leadership, and mentoring other engineers.\nThis is a hybrid, salaried position based out of our Indianapolis office and is eligible for overtime pay.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nLead automation and controls projects from concept through commissioning and start-up.\nDevelop PLC and/or DCS control programs and HMI applications for new and existing systems.\nCreate functional specifications, control narratives, test plans, and other project documentation.\nLead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), site testing, commissioning, and system start-up.\nDesign and troubleshoot industrial control system architectures and communications networks.\nWork directly with clients to understand their processes, identify control system needs, and develop effective solutions.\nCollaborate with electrical, process, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines.\nDevelop project scopes, preliminary designs, estimates, and technical proposals.\nProvide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers.\nIdentify opportunities to improve client systems and support long-term client relationships.\nFollow Matrix, client, and industry safety standards throughout project execution.\nWHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Controls, Automation Engineering, or a related engineering field.\n6+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, system integration, or a related area.\nHands-on experience programming and troubleshooting PLC and/or DCS systems.\nExperience with HMI development, testing, commissioning, and industrial equipment start-up.\nUnderstanding of industrial control networks and system architecture.\nExperience working with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP/IP.\nAbility to communicate effectively with clients, project teams, and other engineering disciplines.\nAbility to travel approximately 15-25%, including occasional overnight travel.\nLegally eligible to work in the United States.\nAbility to access client industrial sites as required.\nEXPERIENCE THAT WOULD SET YOU APART\nExperience in any of the following is a plus, but you don’t need to check every box:\nAllen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation\nSiemens\nAVEVA\nDCS platforms\nBatch or continuous process controls\nSystems integration\nEPC projects\nProcess Control Network Architecture\nFood & beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing environments\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand;
