You’ll\nimmediately take on high-impact projects, building features like visual\nsearch, semantic segmentation, custom object tracking, model\ninterpretability, video summarization, and the infrastructure required\nto run complex machine learning workloads.\nHeadquartered in Palo Alto and founded in 2016 by a Stanford\nProfessor, Matroid has raised $33.5 million from NEA, Energize Ventures,\nand Intel Capital.\nWe’re looking for a talented full-stack JavaScript engineer to design\nand develop novel features for our computer vision platform. Creating a\nproduct in a new space requires creativity and technical acuity, and as\npart of the Matroid product team, you’ll shape the functionality and\nfeel of our platform, breaking new ground while working in an\nengineering culture that fosters employee empowerment. Over time, your\nrole on the team will evolve with your growing interests and skill set.\nYou’ll be working at our new office in downtown Palo Alto, just a five-minute walk from the Caltrain station.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nDesign and develop features for a computer vision platform that is truly the first of its kind.\nIdentify new technologies and best practices for our growing engineering team.\nImprove site performance on both the client and server-side.\nIncorporate user feedback to design and build a better product.\nCreate better visualizations for the outputs of computer vision models running on video streams and images.\nEnsure that our platform features work at an ever-growing scale.\nHow you’ll be doing it\nYou’ll be part of a world-class, multidisciplinary engineeringteam, where each member identifies and prioritizes valuable and\ninteresting new features to work on.\n\nYou will operate in acollaborative but highly autonomous environment that isn’t bogged down\nby unnecessary meetings or project management.\n\nYou will knowthat almost everything you build affects real-world users, and you will\nset the quality standards for your work appropriately.\n\nYou will think creatively and your suggestions about new features and ideas will be considered by other members of the team.\nYou will have direct access to customers and be able to iterate on your features based on their feedback.\nYou’ll be working with modern technologies like React, Node.js, MongoDB, Docker, and Kubernetes.\nYouwill learn a lot along the way, diving into new technologies and the\nworld of computer vision both on your own and during frequent company\ntech talks.\n\nWhat you’ll bring to the table\nYou have a strong handle on modern JavaScript development, even if you don’t know every single JS quirk.\nYou are a self-starter who can prioritize what to work on and fully design, build, and write tests for new features.\nYou’recomfortable moving across the stack: on a typical day, you might\noptimize a database query and tweak a user interface to be more\nintuitive.\n\nYou have an eye for design and an understanding of what can make a user interface more intuitive and delightful.\nYoucan show that you’re smart, analytical, and a fast learner. Sometimes\nyou’ll work on things using unfamiliar languages or technologies, but\nyou know you can handle that.\n\nThere aren’t any strictrequirements for your background, but you’re technical. Maybe you have a\nCS (or similar) degree, or you’re a boot camp grad with a STEM\nbackground and strong portfolio, or you might be self-taught with a few\nyears of industry experience.\n\nIt’s a plus if you have experiencein areas that might be relevant to a startup working on computer\nvision: data visualization, scaling web applications, DevOps, etc…\n\nWhat we offer in return\nCompetitive pay and equity.\nThe chance to constantly work on stimulating intellectual challenges.\nGym membership reimbursement.\nFree lunch, snacks, and caffeine every day.\nMedical, dental, and vision insurance with 100% paid premiums.\nA flexible schedule that leaves time for all of your other interests.\nA budget for whatever hardware will make you most effective.\nResources to learn about the cutting edge of software engineering and computer vision.\nYou’ll be working at our new office in downtown Palo Alto, just a five-minute walk from the Caltrain station.\nMatroid is committed to creating a diverse work environment and\nis proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants\nwill receive consideration for employment without regard to race,\nreligion, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age,\nnon-disqualifying physical or mental disability, national origin,\nveteran status, or any other basis covered by appropriate law.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4924,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Flexible schedule","Gym membership","Vision insurance"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Machine Learning","Computer Vision","Industrial AI"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-07-27T19:26:52Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"US","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"H-1B filings in 12 months: 2","filings_12m":2,"filings_prev_12m":0,"green_card_filings_12m":0,"median_offered_wage_usd":152500,"route":null,"cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-15T11:24:14+00:00","sources":["US Department of Labor: LCA disclosure data (H-1B, H-1B1, E-3)"],"filings_for_role_12m":2}],"liveness":{"score":7,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.247,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":80,"expected_fill_days":33,"reasons":["conf:0","stale_co","win:tail","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-10-16T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/matroid-software-engineer-product","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/matroid-software-engineer-product.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-16T18:21:34Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":3355,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-17T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":37106},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=37106"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fmatroid-software-engineer-product"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fmatroid-software-engineer-product"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fmatroid-software-engineer-product"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/matroid-software-engineer-product\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fmatroid-software-engineer-product"}]}
