We work with partners across healthcare, logistics, food, and retail to deliver everything from medical items to everyday essentials, safely and reliably.\nWe're looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join the platform team that builds and runs the backend, data, and infrastructure services behind Matternet's delivery network. You'll own the reliability of the systems that support live flight operations: defining how we measure it, building the alerting and automation that protect it, and leading how we respond when something breaks. This is a hands-on role in a safety-critical environment. You'll work across our AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, Terraform, our observability stack, and the messaging and data systems that connect the fleet to the cloud.\nIn this role, you will:\nDefine and track service-level objectives for the services that support live operations, and set reliability baselines\nOwn and improve monitoring, alerting, and observability across production systems\nBuild and participate in an on-call rotation, lead incident response, and run effective post-incident reviews\nImprove the resilience of core systems, including databases, Kubernetes, messaging, and multi-AZ availability\nAutomate infrastructure and operational work with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD\nCollaborate with cloud, onboard software, operations, and safety teams on how systems are built, deployed, and run\nRequirements\n3+ years in SRE, infrastructure, or backend roles operating production systems, including on-call responsibility\nStrong experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and containers\nHands-on infrastructure-as-code experience\nExperience building monitoring and alerting with tools such as Prometheus and Grafana\nProficiency in at least one programming or scripting language\nA track record of incident response, root-cause analysis, and turning incidents into durable fixes\nClear technical communication and cross-functional collaboration\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with Terragrunt or Gruntwork\nExperience operating Kafka, MQTT brokers, or other messaging systems\nExperience with PostgreSQL operations, including upgrades, replication, and backup and recovery\nKnowledge of security practices for cloud infrastructure\nExperience with IoT/telemetry, fleet, robotics, or other systems with hardware in the loop\nUAV, aerospace, logistics, or other operationally critical domain experience\nExperience using AI coding assistants to accelerate development\nBenefits\nAt Matternet, we’re advancing a new era of logistics, one where autonomous drones deliver what matters faster, cleaner, and more efficiently. This range reflects the target starting pay for candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the role.
