Sales Development Representative - Australia

  • Start conversations
  • Create opportunities
  • Build your career in digital trust.

About MATTR

At MATTR, we’re building a future where people and organisations can connect and share information securely, on their terms.

Our SaaS platform helps organisations issue, verify and accept digital credentials, bringing trust and authenticity to digital interactions. From established enterprises to web3 innovators, we enable our customers to build secure solutions that respect people’s privacy.

With roots in New Zealand and a global outlook, we’re looking for someone to spark the conversations that grow our business in Australia.

About the role

Every great customer relationship starts with a great first conversation. As our Sales Development Representative in Australia, you’ll often be someone’s first introduction to MATTR, helping them understand what we do and uncovering where we can make a difference.

You’ll respond to inbound interest, reach out to priority accounts and qualify potential opportunities across government, financial services and other regulated industries, as well as organisations adopting digital credentials and the partners supporting them.

This role calls for curiosity, thoughtful questions and relevant outreach. You’ll understand what each buyer needs, identify the right next step and give your business development colleagues the context to move the conversation forward.

What you’ll be doing

  • Make the first response count: Respond to inbound enquiries within agreed timeframes, connect people with the right colleague and ensure every lead has an owner.
  • Open doors: Reach priority accounts through email, phone, social channels and event follow-up, tailoring your outreach to each buyer’s sector and role.
  • Qualify with purpose: Assess leads against agreed criteria and establish an outcome within 30 days: a qualified handover, further nurturing or closure with a clear reason.
  • Set colleagues up for success: Hand over opportunities with a clear picture of the buyer, their needs, key stakeholders, timing and an agreed next step.
  • Know your audience: Research accounts, decision-makers, sector developments and regulatory changes to strengthen our targeting and messaging.
  • Turn engagement into conversations: Follow up on campaigns, events, webinars and partner referrals, keeping partners informed as their leads progress.
  • Share what you’re hearing: Capture buyer questions, objections and competitor mentions to help inform our messaging and product direction.
  • Keep improving the approach: Maintain accurate CRM records, including each lead’s owner, source, next step and outcome, and suggest improvements to outreach and lead handling as you learn what works.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in sales development, business development or inside sales within B2B SaaS or technology, ideally one to three years, with a track record of meeting activity and pipeline targets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the confidence to engage senior government and enterprise stakeholders.
  • An organised approach and strong CRM habits, recording conversations, next steps and outcomes accurately.
  • Curiosity about digital identity, trust and the regulatory developments shaping them, with a willingness to learn a new market category.
  • Initiative, resilience and openness to feedback, with the ability to work independently and contribute to a small, collaborative team.

A few things that would help you stand out

  • Exposure to government, financial services, identity or fraud-prevention buyers.
  • Experience using sales engagement tools.
  • An existing network in the Australian market.

Why join MATTR?

Build your technology sales career with hands-on experience in a developing field, learning from experienced colleagues and engaging with organisations tackling real challenges in digital trust.

You’ll gain exposure to complex enterprise and government buying environments, sharpen your commercial skills and see how the opportunities you create contribute to MATTR’s growth.

Ready to turn curiosity into opportunity? We’d love to hear from you.

We value diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives, and welcome applications from people with access needs. If this role excites you, we encourage you to apply, even if you don’t meet every requirement.
