This position plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime, maximizing production efficiency, and ensuring the safe and reliable operation of all plant equipment. The Maintenance Technician is expected to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems while maintaining compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance\nPerform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment according to established maintenance schedules.\nDiagnose equipment malfunctions using technical manuals, electrical schematics, PLC software, and diagnostic testing instruments.\nTroubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and vacuum conveying systems.\nRepair and maintain extrusion blow molding machines, grinders, conveyors, palletizers, leak testers, trimming equipment, and associated auxiliary equipment.\nReplace worn or defective components including motors, bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, pumps, valves, sensors, switches, cylinders, and drives.\nInstall, align, adjust, and calibrate new or existing production equipment.\nPerform emergency repairs to minimize production downtime.\nElectrical & Automation\nTroubleshoot electrical control systems, motor controls, VFDs, and PLC-controlled equipment.\nRead and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals.\nDiagnose and repair control circuits, relays, sensors, photo eyes, proximity switches, HMI interfaces, and emergency stop circuits.\nAssist with PLC troubleshooting and minor programming modifications (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens preferred).\nInstall and troubleshoot machine wiring and electrical components while following NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.\nMechanical Systems\nRepair and maintain gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, chain drives, sprockets, bearings, couplings, and mechanical assemblies.\nPerform precision alignment of motors and rotating equipment.\nLubricate machinery and replace mechanical wear components before failure occurs.\nPerform minor machining, fabrication, cutting, drilling, and welding as necessary.\nHydraulic & Pneumatic Systems\nTroubleshoot hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, manifolds, hoses, and pressure systems.\nMaintain pneumatic systems including regulators, solenoids, air cylinders, air dryers, compressors, and valves.\nIdentify leaks and ensure systems are operating efficiently.\nFacility Maintenance\nPerform routine facility maintenance including:Plumbing repairs\nLighting replacement\nDoor and lock repair/replacement\nWall and floor repairs\nHVAC assistance\nGeneral building maintenance\nCompressed air system maintenance\nWater system maintenance\n\nMaintain housekeeping in maintenance areas, shops, and workspaces.\nPreventative Maintenance\nConduct routine equipment inspections to identify potential failures before they occur.\nComplete preventative maintenance work orders on schedule.\nMaintain lubrication schedules for all assigned equipment.\nRecommend improvements to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime.\nAssist in root cause analysis for repetitive equipment failures.\nDocumentation\nAccurately document maintenance activities using Shop Logix, maintenance logs, work orders, and downtime reporting systems.\nRecord parts used, repairs completed, labor hours, and equipment history.\nSubmit Purchase Requests for replacement parts, supplies, and maintenance materials.\nMaintain organized maintenance records and equipment documentation.\nSafety & Compliance\nStrictly follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.\nFollow OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E electrical safety standards, and all company safety policies.\nWear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.\nParticipate in safety meetings, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.\nReport unsafe conditions immediately.\nContinuous Improvement\nSupport Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and Continuous Improvement initiatives.\nAssist engineering and production teams during equipment installations, upgrades, and process improvements.\nParticipate in equipment reliability projects and process optimization efforts.\nCross-train with other maintenance technicians to support plant operations.\nOther Duties\nRespond to maintenance calls during production shifts as required.\nAssist production personnel with machine startups and changeovers.\nTrain operators on basic equipment care and preventative maintenance practices.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nRequired Qualifications Education\nHigh School Diploma or GED required.\nTechnical, vocational, or trade school certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or related field preferred.\nExperience\nTwo to five (2-5) years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, packaging, plastics, or distribution environment preferred.\nExperience working with extrusion blow molding equipment is highly desirable.\nExperience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nStrong mechanical troubleshooting skills.\nStrong electrical troubleshooting skills.\nAbility to read blueprints, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and pneumatic prints.\nKnowledge of industrial electrical systems (120V-480V).\nExperience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley, Siemens preferred).\nUnderstanding of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor controls, sensors, and automation systems.\nKnowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum, and compressed air systems.\nBasic welding and fabrication experience (MIG, TIG, Stick preferred).\nAbility to safely operate hand tools, power tools, welders, cutting torches, grinders, and diagnostic equipment.\nExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\nStrong communication and teamwork skills.\nAbility to prioritize multiple repairs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nBasic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).\nPhysical Requirements\nThe employee must be able to:\nFrequently stand and walk for extended periods.\nFrequently bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders, and work in elevated areas.\nLift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier items with assistance.\nWork in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, and manufacturing environments.\nWork around moving mechanical equipment while following all required safety procedures.\nUse hand and power tools safely and effectively.\nWear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, hard hats, steel-toed footwear, respirators, and arc flash protection as required.\nWorking Conditions\nThis position is performed primarily in an industrial manufacturing environment. The employee will be exposed to moving machinery, forklifts, overhead cranes, elevated work platforms, varying temperatures, dust, noise, oils, lubricants, and chemicals commonly associated with plastics manufacturing and industrial maintenance.
