They will create plans for engineering projects which may include preparing designs, project controls and specifications, drafting schedules and cost estimates, and production, installation, and testing of new equipment and processes. The Senior Controls Engineer must also be able to work with other departments and external parties to create and implement processes to increase Plant’s efficiency.\nMain Position Responsibilities:\nDesigns and develops mechanical and electricals projects to support site goals for productivity, cost efficiency, reliability and safety and enter project requests into the Mauser CapEx Portal\nManage capital engineering projects to meet defined budget and schedule.\nAssists in the preparation of the scope of a project, cost justification and AFE (overall cost proposal) to senior management for approval as required.\nEvaluates, selects, and coordinates with outside vendors for design, machining and fabrication of tooling and systems.\nDevelops plans for testing and debugging automation equipment while applying knowledge of engineering technology as necessary. \nApplies mechanical theory, mechanical testing procedures and related knowledge to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production equipment. \nPrograms software to configure and/or make modifications to automated systems and process control systems, which will include maintaining a backup library of robotic, PLC and other instrumentation software. \nPrograms, troubleshoots, and evaluates any design considerations on new and existing systems and equipment. \nSpecify equipment. Manage physical installation of equipment during moves and upgrades.\nDraft and manage all engineering drawings.\nParticipate in Kaizen events. Understand factors contributing to KPI’s and identify areas of improvement.\nSome travel may be required to support projects at other plants or perform equipment acceptance testing at vendor facilities (less than 10%).\nOther duties, as assigned.\nKey Attributes / Behaviors\nB.S. Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years overall manufacturing experience required.\nMust be a self-starter with the ability to work alone, or in a team environment with limited supervision.\nExtensive knowledge of advanced machine control concepts and programming of Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs.\nAbility to evaluate controls engineering problems, solve controls issues independently, and investigate technical problems and establish procedures and/or corrective actions to avoid reoccurrences.\nAvailability to work around the production hours as needed, in a matrix organization.\nProven Project Management skills. PMP Certification a plus.\nEffective written and oral communication skills.\nComputer skills (MS Office, AutoCAD or SOLIDWORKS, RSLogix, Siemens TIA Portal) required. \nPosition reports to the Division Engineering Manager and to the Plant Manager.\nThe pay range is $135K-$143K annually.
