The employee who occupies this position is expected to assume any / all duties assigned by management irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in this list:\nDrive and operate forklifts to move materials throughout designated locations. \nCoordinate with departments to position materials in necessary areas. \nMove materials from and to materials center and shipping warehouse. \nStack/unstack materials for storage and shipping. \nPresent and remove materials from work areas. \nServing trailers to provide materials for shipping and processing. \nLoad and unload truck trailers. \nPlace items onto the forklift. \nEnsure material is stored based on current and future needs \nWorks in a warehouse, at a construction site, or in a retail environment. \nPerform routine maintenance and troubleshooting if it is not working properly. \nHave sending and receiving duties on the loading dock. \nAdditional Responsibilities:\nMarking and scanning materials for inventory control. \nCommunicate with forklift drivers and workers to adjust movements. \nJob Scope:\nApplies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks. \nWorks on assignments that are semi routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. \nCompetent in tasks that are beyond entry level. \nUsually, the forklift driver will be assigned tasks for the day and then will perform these tasks independently. \nEducation and Experience Requirements:\nRequires high school diploma or equivalent. \nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nFamiliar with the workings of a forklift \nUnderstands the logistics of the facility being worked in and to place items in the proper area. \nCommunication skills are still essential in order to help the workflow and to maintain safety. \nValid driver’s license is required. \nJob hours vary widely and may require the forklift driver to work late-night or early-morning shifts. \nPreferred: certified forklift driver \nMust comply with quality, PPE requirements and safety and understand the importance of complying with safety policies and procedures. \nPhysical/Visual Demands/Work Environment:\n(Physical and visual activities that are commonly associated * with the performance of the functions of this job)\nPerforming REPETITIVE or short-cycle work: Involves performing a few routine and uninvolved tasks repeatedly according to set procedures, sequences, or pace with little opportunity for diversion or interruption. Interaction with people is included when it is routine, continual, or prescribed. \nPerforming effectively under STRESS: Involves coping with circumstances dangerous to the worker or others. \nDealing with PEOPLE: Involves interpersonal relationships in job situations beyond receiving work instructions. \nMaking JUDGEMENTS and Decisions: Involves solving problems, making evaluations, or reaching conclusions based on subjective or objective criteria, such as the five senses, knowledge, past experiences, or quantifiable or factual data. \nStrength: Controls hand-arm and foot-leg machinery \nNear acuity: clarity of vision at 20 inches or less \nFar acuity: clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. \nDepth Perception: Three-dimensional vision. Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships to see objects where and as they actually are. \nAccommodation: Adjustment of lens of eye to bring an object into sharp focus. This factor is required when doing near point work at varying distances from the eye. \nField of vision: Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point. \nAbility to lift heavy items. \nClimb under and on top of machinery, trucks, storage racks, etc. \nEnvironmental/Atmospheric Conditions:\n(Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated * with the performance of the functions of this job).\nThis job is sometimes carried out in the outdoors, subjecting the driver to unpleasant weather conditions. \nNoise intensity level: (4 Loud): Can manufacturing department; large earth-moving equipment; heavy traffic. \nProximity to moving mechanical parts: Exposure to possible bodily injury from moving mechanical parts of equipment, tolls, or machinery. \nRisk of Collision: Potential to crash into machinery, personal, stacks of product, or other forklifts. \nExposure to weather: exposure to outside atmospheric conditions \n“Commonly associated” is not intended to mean always or only.
