Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, May develops and deploys autonomous vehicles (AVs) powered by our innovative Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM) technology that literally reimagines the way AVs think.\nOur vehicles do more than just drive themselves - they provide value to communities, bridge public transit gaps and move people where they need to go safely, easily and with a lot more fun. We’re building the world’s best autonomy system to reimagine transit by minimizing congestion, expanding access and encouraging better land use in order to foster more green, vibrant and livable spaces. Since our founding in 2017, we’ve given more than 500,000 autonomous rides to real people around the globe. And we’re just getting started. We’re hiring people who share our passion for building the future, today, solving real-world problems and seeing the impact of their work. Join us.\nJob Summary\nSenior Integration Test Engineers serve as key stakeholders in the R&D process. This role bridges simulation and on-road testing by validating vehicle system behavior in a controlled lab environment. Senior Integration Test Engineers will focus on both static vehicle-level and HIL testing, replaying real-world drive logs, and documenting system responses. This role is unique in which you will lead testing on HIL bench test setups in addition to static vehicle-level simulated driving. \nAs a Senior HIL Test Engineer, you will work closely with software, hardware, and systems engineers to architect the HIL infrastructure, pioneer new automation processes, and mentor the team in validating safety-critical systems in a fast-paced R&D environment.\nEssential Responsibilities\nLead the development and execution of comprehensive HIL test plans, focusing on the integration of autonomous software with autonomous system hardware\nPerform bench-level testing of sensors and compute modules\nExecute static vehicle-level HIL testing by simulating real-world driving scenarios in a controlled environment\nExecute structured test plans covering functional, regression, and fault-injection scenarios\nMeasure and analyze software performance (latency, CPU/memory utilization, throughput) on target hardware to ensure the autonomy stack meets necessary requirements\nDesign and implement automated test suites. Integrate HIL test results and automation workflows with cloud computing services (AWS) for scalable data analysis and regression tracking\nMonitor and debug vehicle communications\nPartner with Autonomy and Systems Engineering teams to define validation requirements and translate complex edge cases into repeatable HIL test cases.\nEnsure all anomalies are thoroughly documented. Champion product quality by contributing to acceptance criteria and safety-critical validation metrics\nSkills and Abilities\nProven ability to construct and maintain HIL test environments\nStatic vehicle-level or chassis dynamometer test experience\nDeep understanding of CAN networks and vehicle communication protocols\nProficiency with Ethernet protocols (UDP and TCP) \nExperience with CAN bus analysis tools (e.g., Intrepid Vehicle Spy, Vector CANoe/CANalyzer)\nStrong command of Linux environments for system configuration, log manipulation, and troubleshooting\nExpertise in Test Case Automation and scripting to reduce manual testing overhead\nAbility to prioritize complex deliverables and pivot testing strategies as autonomy software evolves\nStrong ability to translate low-level hardware bugs into actionable insights for high-level software teams\nExperience integrating test automation with cloud computing services (AWS)\nQualifications and Experience\nRequired\nBachelor's degree in an applicable engineering field\n5+ years experience testing complex safety-critical systems involving software, firmware, and/or hardware, preferably in an automotive context\nDirect experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop testing and system-level validation\nValid driver’s license and clear driving record\nDesirable\nMaster’s degree in an applicable engineering field\nExperience testing ADAS vehicles or autonomous robotic systems\nCloud Operations: Experience using AWS for data storage, compute, or CI/CD integration\nCoding: Proficiency in Python or C++ for creating test scripts and data analysis tools\nPhysical Requirements\nStandard office working conditions which includes but is not limited to:\nProlonged sitting\nProlonged standing\nProlonged computer use\nTravel required? - Low: 0%-10%\nBenefits and Perks\nComprehensive healthcare suite including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability plans. Domestic partners who have been residing together at least one year are also eligible to participate. \nHealth Savings and Flexible Spending Healthcare and Dependent Care Accounts available.\nRich retirement benefits, including an immediately vested employer safe harbor match.\nGenerous paid parental leave as well as a phased return to work. \nFlexible vacation policy in addition to paid company holidays.\nTotal Wellness Program providing numerous resources for overall wellbeing \nDon’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and/or people of color are less likely to apply to a job unless they meet every qualification. At May Mobility, we’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workforce, so if you’re excited about this role but your previous experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway!
