Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with an unwavering commitment to excellence. The team is busy and is looking for a candidate that has the ability to watch and learn, independently progress their skillset and learning and is able to effectively balance complex, high-stakes work and disruptive hours whilst delivering a high quality work product in a timely manner.This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated and driven individual to work in a premier legal team and become well-versed in a large variety of debt capital markets with wide geographical exposure.

• Provide support to Partners and Associates in Hong Kong.
• Matter management (e.g.: reviewing initial and subsequent drafts and summarizing changes and highlighting changes relevant to the client), handling documentation relating to closings and completion and document checklist review and annotation.

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes

Qualifications:

• Paralegal experience from leading U.S. or magic circle legal firms with 3 to 5 years of experience in the Debt Capital Markets practice.
• Fluent in oral and written English.
• The candidate will also need to be comfortable participating in conversations and written communications in Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) and able to review drafts in Chinese.

Experience and attributes:

• This is a permanent paralegal position in Mayer Brown’s Corporate & Securities practice.
• Our clients are leading global banks and we are looking for a candidate that can perform routine tasks independently and to a high service quality that is expected from our clients.
• The practice is high volume and day-to-day work will require a thorough understanding of documentation and timelines. The candidate will need excellent organizational skills and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects each with a different scope of work in an efficient, high quality and timely manner.
• The debt capital markets practice often requires coverage outside of regular working hours and the candidate will be responsible for attending to and handling tasks during non-work hours and on weekends.
