One or more mentors will be assigned to the intern to provide instruction, guidance and to assess performance. The intern is responsible for learning the procedures and processes of the Division of Engineering and the assigned work unit. In addition, the intern will be given selected engineering work assignments to reinforce the learning experience and to provide benefit to the work unit. The engineering assignments may include designing components, developing a project strategy, gathering user needs, requirements and specifications, evaluating commercial components, assembling prototype systems, performing design verification and design validation, troubleshooting, and participating in design reviews.\nThis internship will support electrical engineering development for physiological sensing, monitoring and therapeutic technologies, with opportunities to contribute to low-power, battery-powered, and wirelessly connected medical device prototypes. The intern will work on selected components or subsystems within a broader modular platform, under the guidance of experienced engineers. Assignments will be matched to the intern’s preparation, learning objectives, and project needs. Assignments may include may include:\nAssist with analog and digital circuit design, simulation, schematic capture, PCB layout, and component evaluation.\nAssemble, bring up, debug, and test electronic prototypes; document measurements and participate in design reviews.\nSupport sensor interfaces, signal acquisition, power-management circuits, or wireless-module integration.\nSupport integration of electronics hardware, firmware (including HDL for FPGAs) and software.\nHelp characterize signal quality, power consumption, battery-powered operating modes, or wireless performance, as appropriate to the assignment.\n The incumbent must have received a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university and be enrolled in or intending to enroll in a graduate degree program in an Electrical or Biomedical Engineering degree granting program.\nThe preferred candidate will have education, experience, or interest in one or more of the following areas. Relevant coursework, laboratory work, research, capstone projects, and personal engineering projects are appropriate evidence; prior professional experience is not required.\nAdditional Qualifications\nAnalog and digital circuit and system design, circuit simulation, schematic capture, and PCB layout.\nSensor interfaces or physiological signal acquisition.\nSignal processing coursework or experience.\nStandard laboratory electronic instruments including oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers and spectrum analyzers; prototype assembly and debugging.\nLow-power or battery-powered electronics\nRF wireless communications coursework or experience.\nEmbedded firmware or FPGA development, hardware/software integration.\nWorking in a team environment and demonstrating strong analytical and communication skills.\nOptional Areas of Interest\nExposure to AI/ML, wireless power transfer, implantable or other medical devices, therapeutic electronics, medical device safety standards, EMC, or regulatory and agency approval activities is welcome, but not required. The intern is not expected to have experience in all of these areas.\n***To be considered for this position please attach the following to your application:\nUndergraduate Transcript\nCurrent Transcript\nResume or CV\n Applicants are strongly encouraged to include a Cover Letter","description_format":"text","description_chars":3769,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Health Care","Hospitals & Health Systems","Research Institutes","Medical Education & Training"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-27T14:06:29Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"US","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"H-1B filings in 12 months: 479 · green card filings: 4","filings_12m":479,"filings_prev_12m":557,"green_card_filings_12m":4,"median_offered_wage_usd":89115,"route":null,"cap_exempt":true,"checked_at":"2026-10-29T16:27:21+00:00","sources":["US Department of Labor: LCA disclosure data (H-1B, H-1B1, E-3)","US Department of Labor: PERM disclosure data (green cards)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":46,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.615,"p_room":0.75,"age_days":5,"expected_fill_days":7,"reasons":["conf:5","stale_co","velocity","win:late","comp:junior,brand"],"computed_at":"2026-11-02T06:13:15Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/mayo-clinic-graduate-engineering-intern-electronics","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/mayo-clinic-graduate-engineering-intern-electronics.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-11-02T16:58:51Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":23615,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-03T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":35609},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=35609"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fmayo-clinic-graduate-engineering-intern-electronics"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fmayo-clinic-graduate-engineering-intern-electronics"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fmayo-clinic-graduate-engineering-intern-electronics"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/mayo-clinic-graduate-engineering-intern-electronics\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fmayo-clinic-graduate-engineering-intern-electronics"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3336632}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"mayoclinic.org","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3336632},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
