You set policies, lead inspections and audits, and keep compliance with Seveso, ADR, and environmental regulations on track.\nYou’ll work hand in hand with the Terminal Manager, the Prevention Officer, and the Safety Committee (VO-team), while being closely connected to the Head of HSSE & Sustainability of the MB Energy Group and the Managing Director of Nefco Energy Netherlands & Belgium.\nYou bring first experience in HSE and high ambitions to make the next steps in your career. This role offers a broad scope of responsibility, significant ownership, and the opportunity to further develop your expertise within a compact, forward-looking, and truly international environment - backed by the stability and experience of the MB Energy Group.\nYour tasks in a nutshell:\nDrive HSE strategy: You develop, maintain, and implement corporate HSE policies, ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations across our operations.\n\nEnsure system compliance: You manage and continuously improve the Safety Management System (SMS), integrate applicable quality standards, and translate legislation and norms (via Pharius) into practical work instructions and preventive measures.\n\nAudit and inspect: You plan and conduct regular HSE inspections and coordinate internal and external audits covering safety, quality, environment, and sustainability (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).\n\nInvestigate and improve: You lead incident investigations, manage permits and risk assessments, and ensure effective follow-up of corrective and preventive actions.\n\nPromote sustainability: You safeguard and enhance processes related to bio-based energy carriers and sustainability goals, including quality control of reporting and ADR/ADNR compliance in transport and logistics.\n\nCollaborate and report: You work closely with the terminal manager, prevention officer, and MB Energy Group HSSE teams, preparing the annual HSEQ report with KPIs, trends, and recommendations for improvement.\n\nWhat helps you to fulfill this role:\nEducation: A completed degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, or a comparable technical or scientific field, ideally complemented by additional HSE expertise.\n\nProfessional Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience in HSE or HSSE roles, ideally within industrial, logistics, or energy-related environments.\n\nTechnical Skills: Solid understanding of HSE management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and legal compliance processes; confident use of Microsoft 365 and related tools.\n\nLanguages: Native level in Dutch and fluency in English are required (both written and spoken); German language skills are an advantage.\n\nMobility: Willingness to travel occasionally to the terminal site in Tiel and to MB Energy headquarters in Hamburg, Germany (about 25% of your time).\n\nWith these characteristics, you fit perfectly with us:\nVisionary & Decisive: You combine a clear vision for HSE with the ability to take decisions and drive implementation.\n\nCommunicative & Influential: You communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and can build trust and alignment among diverse stakeholders.\n\nIndependent & Collaborative: You work autonomously and take ownership, while proactively seeking collaboration with colleagues at both operational and strategic levels.\n\nStructured & Responsible: You maintain an overview even in complex situations, approach tasks methodically, and take responsibility for safety and quality in every detail.\n\nEven if you do not fulfil all of the above requirements, we encourage you to apply if you believe your experience will add value to our team.\nYou feel this could be a match?\nWe look forward to receiving your application, including your salary expectations and earliest possible starting date via the application form on our website.
