This position will support the preparation and filing of indirect tax returns, monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, business license renewals, and other tax-related activities.\nThe ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working with detailed financial information, and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Recent graduates and upcoming fall graduates are encouraged to apply.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nPartner with the Indirect Tax Supervisor to prepare and file sales and use, gross receipts, and similar tax returns.\nReview prior-month expenses in Microsoft Excel and Oracle to identify use tax obligations.\nResearch state and local tax laws and regulations affecting the company’s indirect tax matters.\nConduct tax research using state revenue and taxation websites and Bloomberg Tax.\nPrepare monthly tax journal entries in Microsoft Excel.\nComplete monthly indirect tax account reconciliations using FloQast.\nPrepare quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations.\nPrepare and file personal property tax returns.\nPrepare and file business license applications and renewals.\nPrepare and file Puerto Rico withholding tax returns.\nManage the indirect tax calendar to ensure timely filing of returns, payments, licenses, and renewals.\nMaintain electronic records of income and indirect tax filings.\nCoordinate with internal departments to gather information for tax returns and business license filings.\nProvide indirect tax guidance and support to other departments as needed.\nCommunicate with external taxing authorities to obtain or provide required information.\nCoordinate responses to indirect tax notices.\nSupport additional Tax team projects, including quarterly and year-end income tax provision and compliance workpapers.\nWhat You Need to Succeed:\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.\nZero to two years of professional experience.\nRecent graduates and upcoming spring graduates are encouraged to apply.\nProficiency with Microsoft Excel, including:PivotTables\nXLOOKUP\nSUMIF and SUMIFS\n\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of tasks and competing deadlines.\nAbility to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to communicate professionally with taxing jurisdictions and Michael Baker employees outside of the Tax department.\nExperience with Oracle, FloQast, or Bloomberg Tax is helpful.\nCompensation:\nThe approximate compensation range for this position is $50,000 to $55,000. This compensation range is a good-faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
