This internship is a great opportunity for a student who is interested in building systems design and wants to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment. This position is based in Salt Lake City, UT, Denver/Lakewood, CO, or Idaho Falls, ID, and offers a hybrid, flexible work schedule that supports collaboration, mentorship, and team connection.\nIn this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers and designers, gaining exposure to real-world projects and the tools, processes, and coordination that support successful project delivery. You will assist with design and documentation tasks, develop your technical skills through practical application, and learn how mechanical and plumbing systems are planned, designed, and coordinated across different project types and phases.\nResponsibilities:\nSupport mechanical and plumbing design efforts under the guidance of engineering staff.\nAssist with the preparation of construction drawings and models using Revit and other design tools.\nPrepare engineering calculations and other technical documentation with direction from project engineers.\nVerify equipment selections and assist with system layout development based on project design requirements.\nSupport the preparation of written and graphic reports, design narratives, and other project deliverables.\nAssist with site survey data collection, input, verification, and organization.\nReview and organize product data, shop drawings, and submittals during the construction administration phase.\nCoordinate with engineers, designers, and other disciplines to support integrated project delivery.\nParticipate in team meetings and contribute to project-related tasks as assigned.\nTravel locally on an intermittent basis, as needed, to support site visits or project coordination activities.\nPROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS\nRequired Qualifications:\nPursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.\nCompletion of at least two years of coursework in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.\nMinimum GPA of 3.0.\nStrong interest in HVAC, plumbing, and building systems design.\nAbility to work effectively in a team environment.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nSelf-motivated, organized, and able to work productively with intermittent supervision.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPrior internship, co-op, academic, or project experience related to mechanical, plumbing, or building systems design.\nFamiliarity with Revit or other 3D modeling software.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.\nFamiliarity with Bluebeam or other PDF markup/manipulation software\nCompensation:\nThe approximate compensation range for this position is $20 - $25 per hour. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
