This leadership role is ideal for a traffic engineering professional with 12+ years of experience who can provide technical expertise, mentor staff, lead complex transportation projects, and help strengthen client relationships across state, county, municipal, and private-sector markets.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nServe as a technical leader for traffic engineering and transportation projects.\nOversee the development and review of traffic signal designs, signing and pavement marking plans, maintenance of traffic plans, traffic studies, safety evaluations, and transportation analyses.\nProvide quality assurance and technical oversight to ensure compliance with IDOT, Illinois Tollway, MUTCD, and local agency standards.\nLead multidisciplinary project coordination, support project delivery, and assist with staffing and resource planning.\nMentor and develop engineering staff while promoting technical excellence and best practices.\nBuild and maintain client relationships, support business development efforts, and contribute to strategic growth initiatives.\nWhat You Need to Succeed:\nBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois, or ability to obtain shortly after hire.\nPTOE preferred\n12+ years of progressive traffic and transportation engineering experience.\nStrong experience delivering projects for IDOT, Illinois Tollway, counties, municipalities, and other public-sector clients.\nDemonstrated expertise in traffic operations, traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking, maintenance of traffic, traffic studies, and safety analysis.\nExperience leading technical teams, mentoring staff, and providing quality reviews.\nProficiency with OpenRoads Designer (ORD), MicroStation, and other traffic engineering software.\nExcellent communication, leadership, project management, and client relationship skills.\nCompensation\nThe approximate compensation range for this position is $115,000 to $187,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
