Using their strong software technical knowledge and leadership skills, guide the team to ensure the software architecture and design meet safety, security, and reliability requirements before full implementation.Steering and supporting technical sub-systems conversations with a software focus, this role involves working cross-functionally with other engineering disciplines.\nThis role will suit someone who is looking to take on more technical responsibility with a view of progressing their career through the MBDA technical pathway.\nResponsibilities\nSoftware Design Quality: Providing strong technical ability to ensure the software architecture and design meet safety, security, and reliability requirements before full implementation\nTeam Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to a team of software developers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.\nProject Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with the Software Project Leader and stakeholders to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables. Ensure effective coordination among team members, ensuring tasks are assigned, and deadlines are met.\nIdentify and communicate the technical risks and debt for the activity to the Software Project Leader.\nCollaboration and Communication: Facilitate effective communication among team members, stakeholders, and other cross-functional teams. Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the team.\nQuality Assurance and Process Improvement: Ensure the team follows software development best practices, quality assurance processes, and coding standards. Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization. Collaborate with stakeholders to define and implement quality improvement initiatives.\nReporting & Metrics: Suggesting improvements where appropriate using the data collected.\nWhat we're looking for from you:\nExperience in the development of embedded software with C / C++ is essential, along with a knowledge of Real Time Operating Systems.\nExperience of low level software development, FreeRTOS, driver development and ARM Assembler - would be beneficial.\nExperience of Rhapsody UML or other model-driven development tools and being comfortable developing and testing software to requirements & ICD’s on both host and target hardware.\nExperience of IBM’s Engineering Work Management / Rational Team Concert tool or similar.\nTeam leading experience would be beneficial, as this role involves a blend of both software engineering and leading engineers to deliver to project.\nCan do’ and flexible approach - you’ll enjoy solving technical problems that sometimes extend beyond the bounds of “software”\nExcellent analytical and design ability, including review and critical analysis and generation of design documentation\nProven ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including senior management, Subject Matter Experts and internal engineer departments.\nOur company: Peace is not a given, Freedom is not a given, Sovereignty is not a given\nMBDA is a leading defence organisation.
