This role offers a rewarding long-term career with the option to grow into future leadership roles.\nResponsibilities\nWhat You’ll Do:\nAs a Senior Commissioning Agent/Engineer at MBP, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality commissioning services that improve building performance, reduce lifecycle costs, and support long-term sustainability for our clients’ facilities. You will work closely with owners, architects, contractors, and our internal commissioning teams to execute project-specific Cx activities in alignment with industry best practices.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nLead Cx Projects: Serve as the commissioning authority on major projects for new construction, major renovations, and existing buildings; verifying adherence to quality standards, timelines, and client expectations. Complete the entire scope of work from early design into construction and through the warranty phase. \nClient Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as their subject matter expert for their commissioning needs. \nProposal Development: Assist the service line in the development of scope and fee proposals, apply creative writing skills to enhance marketing proposals to be customized to the project pursuit. \nThis role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, values technical problem-solving, and thrives in a collaborative environment where their expertise directly contributes to project success.\nQualifications\nWhat We Are Looking For:\nExperience:\nActed as lead Cx Agent for four or more projects greater than 50,000 square feet, inclusive of design, construction, acceptance, and occupancy phase services. \nSignificant experience commissioning commercial mechanical/HVAC, building automation, plumbing, and electrical systems, including field observations, testing and balancing, functional performance testing, and troubleshooting operational issues. \nProven ability to evaluate integrated system performance, not just individual equipment operation. Experience investigating root causes when systems do not perform as intended, rather than simply documenting deficiencies. \nExperience with managing the scope of financial performance of projects. \nExperience with college and university projects preferred \nExperience on projects exceeding $20 million in construction value \nEducation/Knowledge:\nMinimum two-year HVAC technology degree or equivalent knowledge through practical experience \nThorough understanding of mechanical engineering principles as applied to HVAC systems \nAbility to articulate the commissioning process as defined by ASHRAE Standard 202 \nPreferred Certifications:\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required. \nCertified Commissioning Professional (CCP) certification through the Building Commissioning Certification Board (BCCB) or meet the qualifications needed to take and pass the CCP certification exam within the first six months. \nSkills and Abilities:\nCommunication: Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with owners, designers, contractors, and MBP team members. Excellent written communication skills to prepare clear, concise, and technically accurate documentation for a non-technical audience. \nProblem Solving: Demonstrated ability to assess field conditions, identify root causes of performance issues, and provide practical, technically sound recommendations. \n Design Review Skills: Ability to review construction drawings, details, and specifications for legibility, completeness, and consistency with the Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), appropriate coordination among the disciplines, inconsistencies, or performance concerns. \nField Observation & Documentation: Experience performing construction-phase BECx services or Construction Administration, including field observations, detailed issue documentation, and collaboration with the project team to develop and verify corrective actions. \n Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate documentation, and support Cx activities at various project stages. \nProficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) \nAbility to work in high-pressure environments while maintaining composure and collaboration with the project team. \nPhysical capability to climb ladders, navigate construction sites, bend, stoop, and kneel. \nGuidance/Responsibility:\nOperate independently with limited direction, collaborating with project managers, principals-in-charge, and senior management \nAccountable for managing mechanical commissioning aspects of projects within scope, budget, and schedule \nProvide guidance and recommendations aligned with industry standards and project requirements \nInfluence strategic decisions regarding project execution while adhering to client objectives and MBP standards \nSupervisory:\nSupervise, train, and monitor quality of work performed by commissioning interns, technicians, agents, lead agents, engineers, and support staff assigned to projects \nOffer mentorship and support to develop team capabilities \nWhat We Offer\nWe're focused on providing the tools and support you need to succeed, both personally and professionally.
