The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of multiple projects, working closely with Directors, Associate Directors, clients and multidisciplinary design teams.\n\nThe role offers exposure to the full project lifecycle, from master planning and concept design through to detailed design and construction (RIBA workstages 1 to 6). Candidates should possess strong technical skills and knowledge of the relevant design codes, be confident managing projects and clients, a sound understanding of engineering principles and construction methods, health and safety legislation.\nKey Responsibilities\n\nTechnical Design\nUndertake concept design calculations, feasibility studies and structural sketches with support from Senior Engineers\nDeliver detailed structural design solutions for reinforced concrete, structural steel and timber structures.\nUndertake masonry design where appropriate.\nPrepare structural calculations in accordance with relevant structural design codes and guidance. Challenging where necessary. \nProduce and review technical reports, specifications and engineering assessments.\nAssist in the preparation of RIBA Stage reports and project deliverables.\nEnsure your designs are practical, coordinated and buildable with assistance where needed from a Senior member of the team.\n Project Delivery\nBeginning to manage and deliver a range of structural engineering projects simultaneously with support, progressing in size and complexity as your experience grows.\nCoordinate project information and design outputs to meet programme and budget requirements.\nMonitor project progress and report on key milestones and risks.\nAttend and contribute to client, project and design team meetings.\nUndertake site visits, inspections and surveys as required.\nSupport the commercial management of projects and contribute to fee delivery targets.\n\nBIM and Digital Engineering\nPrepare sketch mark-ups and design information for REVIT Technicians.\nLiaise with BIM teams to ensure BIM Level 2 compliance within REVIT models and drawing packages.\nPromote the use of digital engineering tools and innovative design approaches where appropriate and deemed efficient based on discussion with the senior team.\nSupport the development and implementation of emerging technologies and workflows.\nCollaboration and Client Management\nDevelop strong working relationships with clients, architects, contractors and other consultants.\nLiaise effectively with multidisciplinary design teams to develop coordinated design solutions as well as external consultancies\nRepresent McBains professionally in meetings and stakeholder engagements.\nContribute to maintaining and enhancing client relationships.\n\nHealth, Safety and Quality\nEnsure compliance with current health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.\nPromote safe design principles throughout all project stages.\nAdhere to McBains' Quality Management System and company procedures.\nMaintain accurate project records and documentation.\n\nSkills, Knowledge and Expertise\n\nEssential\nDegree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.\nWorking towards chartership (MIStructE or MICE)\nProven experience in structural engineering design and project delivery.\nStrong knowledge of Eurocodes and UK design standards.\nExperience in the design of reinforced concrete, steel and timber structures.\nProficiency in Finite Element Analysis software and its appropriate use\nExcellent communication and organisational skills.\nAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines.\n\nDesirable\nExperience in Structural Steelwork and Reinforced Concrete high rise preferred.
