The Structural Engineer understands key business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations through analysis of possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.\n Key Tasks and Responsibilities:\nPerform FEED, Studies, and detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on more complex and demanding engineering tasks\nApply knowledge and skills to complete varied assignments\nPrepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures\nPrioritize and organize own work to meet deadlines\nFocus on completing work within budgets\nClearly communicate and explain information in straightforward engineering activities\nGain familiarity with the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements; including identifying concerns as early as practicable\nInitiate interface with other disciplines to obtain input for discipline designs\nPerform computer analyses of structures designed by others with guidance from Senior/PPL engineers\nPrepare design calculations as required\nAssist in the preparation of specifications with guidance from colleagues\nPerform engineering check of drafting\nPerforms engineering checks prepared by others within the discipline\nPerform design verification through single discipline check and assist with inter-discipline checks (IDC)\nPrepare & review MTO’s of structures under supervision\nProvide engineering support as required\nAssist in the preparation of subcontract documents\nReview vendor data\nAssist in bid evaluations\nReports to:\nProject: Lead Engineer\nFunctional: Supervising Department Manager\nLiaise with: All design/drafting disciplines, all Engineering disciplines, Construction site/Fabrication groups, and Document\ncontrol\nSupervises: Trainee Engineers\n Essential Qualifications and Education:\nBachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Engineering\n5-10 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultant predominantly performing detail design, or equivalent experience in a similar project environment is desirable \nPreferably a Registered Engineer in Training (ElT) or member of a professional engineering society desirable\nEager to learn\nWorking knowledge of English, both oral and written\nHSE, TQM and cost-conscious\nShow flexibility and ensure proper hand-over with regards to:\nThe reassignment to other departments, construction sites, and fabrication yards\nThe replacement of colleagues during illness and holidays\nThe provision of assistance to other colleagues with heavy workloads (also other projects) when possible/desirable\nThe managing/learning of future current working methods and software applications\nAccredited engineering degree as may be required by specific regions\nFamiliar with the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable\nKnowledge of many basic design techniques and analysis
