This role combines engineering leadership, people management, and delivery accountability. The role leads hybrid squads across US, Mexico, and Brazil, delivering scalable systems using Java, Angular, and event-driven architecture.\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn end-to-end delivery of distributed systems and product initiatives\nLead execution of backend services (Java), APIs, and frontend apps\nPartner with Product Managers to manage backlog and prioritize work\nBalance feature delivery and technical debt\nCoordinate cross-squad dependencies and global teams\nLead incident response and production issue resolution\nGuide development of microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems\nEnsure adherence to engineering standards and best practices\nDrive system reliability, scalability, and performance\nCollaborate with Lead Engineers and Architects for technical alignment\nOwn delivery metrics, quality, and continuous improvement\nDrive test automation and CI/CD practices\nMonitor defect rates, incidents, and system health\nSupport modernization efforts and technical debt reduction\nLeverage an innovation mindset to help our platform evolve\nPartner with Product Managers and Design Leads as part of the initiative triad\nWork with Scrum Masters, QA SMEs, BTAs, and Architects\nParticipate in a global organization, coordinating across geographically distributed teams\nManage 8-12 engineers including performance, coaching, and career growth\nHire and develop engineering talent\nFoster a high-performing and inclusive team culture\nQualifications\n8+ years software engineering experience\n3+ years in leadership roles\nStrong experience with Java/Spring Boot or .NET\nExperience with APIs, microservices, React/Next.js\nFamiliarity with event-driven architecture and cloud platforms\nProven experience leading distributed teams\nPreferred experience with agentic development\nAdditional information\nAt McDonalds we are People from all Walks of Life...\nPeople are at the heart of everything we do, and they make the McDonalds experience.
