This arrangement is based on meeting performance expectations and may be subject to change. \nWhat You’ll Do \nSupport McElhanney’s planning practice across Western Canada, collaborating with teams across branches to deliver high-quality projects. \nDeliver planning projects for local governments, including official community plans, zoning bylaws, housing and land use studies, and parks and trails initiatives. \nPlan and deliver public engagement activities, working directly with community members and key interest holders. \nSupport First Nations, developers, and property owners on land use planning, housing, policy updates, and development approvals. \nBuild relationships with new and existing clients, governments, project partners, and sub-consultants while supporting business development. \nManage and execute planning projects, coordinating scope, timelines, deliverables, and interdisciplinary teams.\nWhat You’ll Bring\n2–5+ years of community planning experience, ideally in consulting, including report writing and Council presentations. \nDegree in urban planning, urban design, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master’s degree is preferred. \nExperience with land development approvals, municipal development processes, and land use policy and bylaw development in Western Canada. \nKnowledge of British Columbia and/or Alberta planning legislation, with a willingness to learn applicable local government policies and bylaws. \nStrong communication and interpersonal skills, including clear, accurate writing and experience supporting public engagement. \nStrong problem-solving, organization, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. \nExperience with CAD, Adobe InDesign, or other design software is an asset \nEligibility for or membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners. \nValid driver’s license and a willingness to travel is required.\nWhat Can We Offer You? \nThe salary range for this position is $80,000-$120,000 per annum per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications.
