This opportunity is available as a four-month summer internship for a current student. You’ll gain practical experience supporting large-scale, complex projects while learning from experienced survey and geomatics professionals.\nWorking in both field and office environments, you’ll assist with survey data collection, construction layout, quality checks, data processing, and project documentation. You’ll gain exposure to the technology, coordination, safety standards, and accuracy required to deliver major infrastructure and development projects.\nThis internship is an opportunity to build your technical skills, confidence, and understanding of how geomatics supports major project delivery. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values safety, learning, and professional development, with meaningful opportunities to connect with mentors and other students across McElhanney.\n\nWhat You’ll Do\nAs part of your internship, you'll gain exposure to a variety of geomatics projects and technologies while working alongside experienced professionals in our Calgary office.\nSurveying & Geomatics: Support legal, topographic, control, construction, municipal, transportation, and land development surveys throughout Southern Alberta. \nConstruction Survey & Layout: Assist with project layout, site measurements, as-built surveys, and field data collection supporting infrastructure and development projects.\nGeomatics Technology & Remote Sensing: Gain hands-on experience using GNSS equipment, total stations, drones, 3D laser scanning, and other advanced surveying technologies. \nField Operations: Work in a variety of environments, including urban developments, transportation corridors, and construction sites, while developing practical field skills and safety awareness.\nWhat You’ll Bring\nCurrently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Diploma or Degree program in Geomatics Engineering, Geomatics Technology, Surveying, or a related discipline.\nInterest in field-based work. \nAbility to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions. \nPeriods of working out of town for 1-2 weeks at a time.\nStrong attention to detail and a commitment to safety. \nExcellent communication and teamwork skills. \nValid Class 5 driver's licence or ability to obtain one prior to the start of employment.\n\nWhat Can We Offer You?\nThe wage range for this position is $22–$28 per hour.
