This position will work closely with our Civil Engineering teams to deliver construction quality control and quality assurance services. \nMcElhanney’s in-house materials testing laboratories deliver prompt, locally focused materials testing services throughout AB and BC. Complementing our local laboratories, our fleet of mobile laboratories enables our qualified technicians to provide responsive on-site services, even in remote areas. We offer our services for the following project needs: construction aggregate testing, soil and concrete testing, and asphalt testing. \nPlease note that our preference is for the successful candidate to be based in Prince George or the surrounding area to support local project delivery and client needs. The role will also require travel throughout the region to support various projects and field assignments as needed.\nThis role is designated as a safety sensitive position, and completion of a pre-employment drug & alcohol and fitness for work testing is required. \n\nWhat You’ll Do \nWorking as part of a multi-discipline team of highly skilled engineers, technicians, surveyors, and drafters to provide excellent service to our clients \nConducting laboratory soil testing including wash sieve analysis, modified and standard proctors \nConducting laboratory concrete testing including compressive strength of concrete cylinders \nConducting laboratory asphalt testing, marshall properties \nConducting field testing of concrete (slump, air content, cast cylinders). \nConducting field compaction testing using a nuclear densometer \nTimely preparation of reports \nOther duties as required. \n\nWhat You’ll Bring \n3-5 years of prior experience with earthworks/concrete construction and an interest in construction technology \nConstruction inspection and / or survey experience is an asset \nA diploma in Civil Engineering Technology is an asset, but not required \nCanadian Council of Independent Laboratories (CCIL)/American Concrete Institution (ACI) certification or the ability to obtain certification \nKnowledge of Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) testing methods would be considered an asset \nPhysical ability to lift heavy equipment, willing to work in various environmental conditions with varied terrain, able to work in wildlife populated areas and willing to work in remote areas when needed \nGood attitude and willingness to work cooperatively as a team player \nStrong communication skills and leadership capabilities. \nAbility to travel to remote sites and work away from home for extended periods of time. \n\nWhat Can We Offer You? \nThe salary range for this position is $60,000 - $90,000 per annum.
