As a key member of our marine and bridge structural group, you’ll collaborate with, and be supported by, more than 40 experienced bridge and marine professionals across a wide range of specialties. \nThis position is open to candidates based on Vancouver Island or the Lower Mainland, and consideration will also be given to East Coast Canada and other locations for the right candidate, offering flexibility to work where you live while contributing to impactful marine and coastal infrastructure projects across Canada and beyond. For candidates willing to relocate to any of these regions, financial assistance will be provided. \n\nWhat You’ll Do \nProvide both Project Management and senior-level design, engineering, and construction support for marine structural projects, including piers, wharves, trestles, ramps, dolphins, and floating structures utilizing steel, concrete, timber, and aluminum. \nServe as Engineer of Record and Project Manager on complex marine projects, overseeing technical quality, budgets, and schedules. \nLead and contribute to proposal preparation, client relationships, and business development. \nProvide technical guidance, supervision, and mentorship to junior and intermediate staff. \nCollaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients to deliver high-quality outcomes. \n\nWhat You’ll Bring \nMinimum 10+ years of progressive experience as a marine structural engineer. \nP.Eng. registration in good standing with Engineers and Geoscientists BC. \nProven success delivering marine structural projects in a dual role as both Project Manager and Engineer of Record for public and private sector clients. \nStrong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders. \nExperience with floating structures and aluminum structures is a strong asset. \nIn-depth knowledge of Canadian design codes for steel, concrete, and aluminum, with working familiarity with international marine codes and standards. \nAdvanced proficiency with structural analysis and design software is a strong asset. \nDemonstrated experience in project management and proposal development. \nHighly organized, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities. \nAdvanced proficiency with MS Office, particularly Word and Excel, and the ability to quickly adopt new tools and technologies. \n\nWhat Can We Offer You? \nThe salary range for this position is $115,000 - $180,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications.
