This internship provides hands-on experience in healthcare analytics, strategic planning, contract optimization, and cross-functional collaboration within a dynamic healthcare environment.\nThe intern will work closely with Health Systems Strategy & Optimization leaders to analyze data, support business initiatives, develop insights, and contribute to projects that drive measurable value for healthcare providers and industry partners.\nIntern Program Details:\n· Paid Internship\n· Full time / 10 weeks\n· Position will be based out of Texas\n· The internship program provides networking, access to executives, structured performance & coaching\n· Experiential learning and training provided by exposure to subject matter experts\nKey Responsibilities\nAnalytics & Business Insights\nAssist with gathering, organizing, and analyzing healthcare utilization, purchasing, and contract performance data.\nSupport development of dashboards, reports, and presentations that communicate key business trends and opportunities.\nConduct research and analysis to identify contract optimization opportunities and member value enhancement strategies.\nCompile and summarize findings into actionable business recommendations.\nStrategic Planning & Market Research\nPerform market research and competitive assessments within the healthcare, GPO, and biopharma industries.\nSupport strategic planning initiatives by analyzing industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging opportunities.\nHelp develop business cases and supporting materials for growth initiatives and member engagement strategies.\nContract Optimization Support\nAssist in evaluating contract performance metrics and identifying opportunities to improve member participation and outcomes.\nSupport preparation of utilization analyses, economic comparisons, and program performance reviews.\nParticipate in discussions related to aggregation, rebate optimization, and contract strategy initiatives.\nCross-Functional Projects\nCollaborate with teams across Sales, Analytics, Contracting, Operations, and Business Development.\nSupport project management activities, including meeting preparation, documentation, action item tracking, and status reporting.\nContribute to special projects focused on process improvement, operational efficiency, and member experience enhancements.\nCommunication & Presentation Development\nAssist with creating executive-ready presentations, summary reports, and business updates.\nTranslate data and analytical findings into clear, concise, and visually compelling insights.\nPresent project findings and recommendations to team members and leadership at the conclusion of the internship.\nPreferred Qualifications\nEducation\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, Public Health, or a related field.\nRising Junior, Senior, MBA, or graduate student preferred.\nSkills & Experience\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.\nExperience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms is a plus.\nAbility to synthesize large amounts of information into meaningful insights.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.\nDesired Characteristics\nInterest in healthcare strategy, provider economics, healthcare contracting, or biopharma partnerships.\nCurious, self-motivated, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.\nComfortable working with data and presenting findings to business stakeholders.\nStrong collaboration skills and ability to work across diverse teams.\nLearning Opportunities\nDuring the internship, participants will gain exposure to:\nHealthcare GPO and contracting strategies\nHealth system economics and optimization initiatives\nFinancial modeling and business analytics\nExecutive presentation development\nCross-functional healthcare leadership\nStrategic planning and market assessment processes\nExpected Outcomes\nBy the end of the internship, the intern will:\nDeliver a capstone project addressing a real business opportunity or strategic challenge.\nDevelop a strong understanding of healthcare contracting and optimization strategies.\nBuild analytical, communication, and business decision-making skills applicable to future healthcare leadership roles.\nPresent recommendations and key findings to Health Systems leadership.\nWe are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson as part of our Total Rewards.
