Through clinical excellence and cutting-edge research, SCRI is redefining cancer care around the world.\nJob Description\nAs a Lab Technician you will perform high-level medical laboratory processing procedures for specimens received on patients enrolled in clinical trials.\nYou will initiate improvements, tools, processes and forms to enhance the efficiency and the quality of work in the lab\n\nYou will expertly process and ship pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic and all other samples according to instructions provided by study sponsor\n\nYou will be responsible for high- level processing procedures requested by study sponsors becoming the primary processor and trainer for those procedures\n\nYou will be responsible for attending the lab portion of the site initiation visit (SIV) when possible\n\nYou will provide assistance in understanding a lab manual when required\n\nYou will prepare study supplies/source documents necessary for obtaining lab samples prior to patient treatment\n\nYou will utilize electronic medical record (EMR) for source documentation\n\nYou will maintain accurate freezer sample logs\n\nYou will maintain accurate records of sample acquisition and shipping. All PK samples must have source documents available in patient charts that are accurate and complete. All shipping and processing records should be maintained in the patient’s study folder\n\nYou will schedule appropriate courier for sample shipments.\n\nYou will ensure there is an adequate supply of dry ice available for shipments\n\nYou will have the ability to respond to queries generated from study sponsor or contract lab regarding patient/sample data\n\nYou will maintain laboratory equipment and workspace in all areas\n\nYou will interface with Research nurses to ensure that all research patients have correct lab kits prior to patients’ visits and to ensure all necessary specimens are collected per lab manual\n\nYou should have for this position:\nVocational or technical training in laboratory process and/or phlebotomy\n\nA current BLS certification\n\nKnowledge of organization policies, procedures systems\n\nKnowledge of OSHA requirements for safe handling of blood and body fluids\n\nExperience gathering and reporting information\n\nExperience in venipuncture and blood processing\n\nThe ability to multi-task in fast paced environment\n\nThe ability to work effectively with staff, and other internal and external sponsor and agencies\n\nAt least one year of clinical laboratory and phlebotomy or equivalent experience\n\nAbout Sarah Cannon Research Institute\nSarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI) is one of the world’s leading oncology research organizations conducting community-based clinical trials.
