This role works in close partnership with engineering, architecture, application, operations, and cybersecurity teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure solutions.\nThe ideal candidate brings deep hands-on technical expertise across VMware, Microsoft Azure, Azure Local, core server platforms, and automation, with a proven track record of delivering complex data center and enterprise migrations that achieve measurable improvements in performance, reliability, scalability, and cost optimization.\nThis role requires strong engineering judgment, the ability to execute technically complex work end-to-end, and comfort operating in highly regulated, large-scale enterprise environments.\nThe Senior Infrastructure Engineer plays a critical role in modernizing McKesson’s infrastructure, accelerating cloud adoption, improving platform reliability, reducing technical debt, and delivering tangible business value across the organization.\nInfrastructure Strategy & Design:\nPlan, design, and implement migration initiativesacross on-premises, hybrid, and Azure cloud environments.\n\nArchitect scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure solutions aligned with McKesson enterprise standards.\n\nEvaluate legacy infrastructure and define modernization and migrationstrategies that support business objectives.\n\nMigration Execution & Delivery:\nDeliver migration plans that achieve documented performance improvements, availability enhancements, or cost savings.\n\nLead the planning and execution of large-scale server and data center migrations to Azure Local and hybrid cloud environments, ensuring stability, performance, and minimal operational disruption.\n\nPartner with application teams to align infrastructure migrations with application architecture and deployment processes.\n\nAutomation, Governance & Operational Excellence:\nLeverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools with Terraform or Ansible to deliver scalable, repeatable, and governance-aligned compute environments that support enterprise reliability and compliance.\n\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud platforms, including the creation, maintenance, and retirement (purging) of Configuration Management Database (CMDB) records, ensuring infrastructure assets, configuration items, and dependencies are properly documented to support operational integrity, lifecycle management, and audit readiness.\n\nUtilize and adhere to the McKesson Change Management processto plan, review, and implement changes within production and disaster recovery environments, ensuring minimal disruption and controlled risk.\n\nParticipate in change reviews, implementation planning, and post-implementation validation to confirm changes meet technical, operational, and business requirements.\n\nOperational Readiness & Cross-Team Collaboration:\nEnsure infrastructure solutions comply with McKesson cybersecurity, compliance, and operational policies.\n\nCollaborate with compute, network, storage, operations, and cybersecurity teams to ensure end-to-end solution integrity and operational readiness.\n\nAct as a post-migration escalation point for complex infrastructure issues, providing root cause analysis and remediation, while serving as a trusted technical advisor who clearly communicates recommendations, outcomes, and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nSection B - General Responsibilities\nSeek to provide candid and timely feedback to improve performance; openly share information; foster teamwork and innovation by involving team members in problem-solving, decision-making, and creative thinking.\n\nEnsure that requirements to internal and external customers are met in a timely and cost-effective manner; solicit feedback from customers to identify opportunities to improve products and/or services; resolve minor conflicts and involve team members in problem resolution.\n\nApply decision-making authority and autonomy needed to deliver accountabilities of job/role; seek approval from others on matters outside of job/role scope; when required, make decisions regarding the work and development of project team members.\n\nBuild internal and external relationships with key suppliers, customers, and internal service providers, with an emphasis on facilitating successful job/role responsibilities.\n\nRespect and adhere to McKesson Standards, Policies, and Procedures.\n\nMeet job performance standards and objectives outlined in the progress and appraisal guidelines.\n\nSection C - Position Requirements\nMinimum Qualifications :-\n8+ years of hands-on experiencein enterprise infrastructure or systems engineering roles supporting large-scale, business-critical environments and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.\n\nKnowledge:\nexpertise in enterprise operating systems, Microsoft Azure, VMware, and enterprise storage platforms, with strong experience designing, building, operating, and troubleshooting hybrid architectures across on-premises and Azure environments.\n\nProven track record of executing large-scale server and workload migrationsfrom on-premises environments to hybrid and public cloud platforms.\n\nAdvanced proficiency in PowerShell scriptingto automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, migration activities, and ongoing operational tasks.\n\nStrong working knowledge of application architecture and deployment processes, with the ability to align infrastructure design and implementation to application and business requirements.\n\nAbility to:\nLead complex infrastructure modernization and migration initiatives, driving technical execution from design through implementation across on-premises, Azure Local, and hybrid Azure environments.\n\nApply strong engineering judgment to plan, build, and implement infrastructure solutions that meet enterprise requirements for security, reliability, performance, and compliance.\n\nAnticipate and manage technical risks and dependencies throughout infrastructure and migration projects, ensuring stable implementations with minimal operational disruption.\n\nServe as a post-implementation escalation point to analyze, troubleshoot, and remediate infrastructure issues when required, ensuring long-term solution stability and resilience.\n\nOperate with a high degree of ownership and accountability, independently prioritizing work, managing deliverables, and executing within defined project timelines and change windows.\n\nCollaborate effectively with engineering, architecture, application, operations, and cybersecurity teams to deliver end-to-end infrastructure solutions aligned with McKesson standards.\n\nDemonstrate clear and effective written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate technical designs, risks, implementation outcomes, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nWe are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson as part of our Total Rewards.
